From what I hear, it's pretty fabulous. Some people I care about live in the Rock City. I love it by proxy, I suppose :)

I was born in Detroit, went to school in Detroit, my first jobs were in Detroit. I loved the city. My grand parents lived two blocks from Brigg's (Tiger) Stadium. I hate going into the city for anything now. I will not attend any night baseball/football/hockey now. It used to be we couldn't wait to go. Not since 1968.

Yes. I live downtown and love what is happening in Detroit. I can't wait until the City really comes around and we have shopping again!

I like Detroit a lot. They have done a lot of things to really clean up downtown, but there is still work to do. They need a few more cops, and they could use some more people living downtown. Id really like to see them clean up some of the residential neighborhoods close to downtown, then they would be on the right track.
All in all, i love Detroit, its got its problems, but its getting better.

proudly bought my first home in Detroit- mid 70's
I now live in a burb of Detroit but still ::GASP:: go to concerts, plays, sporting events in Detroit

i loved growing up there in the 80s, it was crazy with all the urban crime and suburban decadence. but it's fast become a post-industrial wasteland, and the climate basically sucks. i moved away 7 years ago and would never move back. but i like to visit and i will always root for my detroit teams. Red Wings, Pistons, Tigers. If they ever get an NFL team, I'll root for them too

Don't live in the downtown; but live close to it. I love it. People are great there and it is a fun place to go. cheers
