United States - March 2007

my best friend and i want to see USA, but we have no idea where to go. our starting point is Toronto, and our return flight back home is from New York. in between we hope to go to Los Angeles.
what's the best way to get around? car/plane/train? any recommended places we should go? i know it depends on what we want to see, so here's a rough idea: citylife, nature, history, the best of the US!

Taking my Mom and Grandma ( she is in a wheelchair ) , places we can walk and enjoy sightseeing, handicap accessible please.
Graceland (handicap access ?) and Memphis Zoo are 2 of my choices so far. Travelling from Chicago so anything north of Memphis on the way is good too.

I really appreciate answers from people who live in Memphis or have travelled there recently. 5 Places I shouldn't miss would be real helpful.

My husband and I would love to get away from it all in a log cabin somewhere near Iowa (where we live). I find many cabins for rent on the internet but they have all the modern ameneties that we just don't want! If I wanted to watch TV I would stay home! LOL Does anyone know of a place that rents REAL log cabins-no electricity, real fireplace, etc? Thanks!!
