We saw a beautiful sunset in Stephen F. Austin State Park on Saturday.
You need an open field, and you're not going to find a lot of that in the Woodlands. Someone suggested Galveston. That isn't a bad idea.

I'd drive down to Galveston, but in The Woodlands, I'd go to North Shore Park or Lakeside in Alden Bridge. Sunset on Lake Houston is nice (all the way out past Kingwood), and it's probably nice out at Bentwater. I personally like sunset in the woods when you can see the sky changing color just above the trees. For that I recommend going out to Spring (you can walk in the woods by and in Spring Trails) or in Alden Bridge at 242 and 1488.

My favorite place is off of FM 830....it's a dead end cul-de-sac right on lake Conroe. Heading north on I-45, you take the 830 exit and make a left at the light.....you dead end where the lake starts. It's actually a boat slip for people to put in, but there's an area off to the side to park so you won't be in their way and you can walk out on the pier...it's all open straight ahead of you (no trees or houses in the way) and it's beautiful watching the sun come up or go down with it's reflection off the water.
