Hello,

my name is Martin and I am studying economics in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. During my holidays I would like to know the English culture and people in a better way. So I thought, it might be a good idea to ask you for help.
I really would like to live 2 month (August till October) in an original English family or household.
May be I we can exchange our language skills, ideas and have a great time.

Looking forward to your answers.

I just read a question, about Londoners are rude, and it's an awful place to visit, nothing much to see, bad weather, and bad public transport system. Oppposite from what I have read about London so far, and I thought the Tube is really good to get around.

Hope I can get some assuring answers here, cos I am thinking of visiting London, and alone at that. So if all that is true, then I am afraid to go.

Ok, this is probably a really stupid question, but I'm a VERY inexperienced traveler and need help!! I've never traveled alone, I've never used a train/subway/bus - nothing- and I'm wondering, what is the best way to go about this? I'm staying at the Commodore Hotel (50 Lancaster Gate London, England W2 3NA)...if someone could help me with this I would REALLY appreciate it!!

And any input on great sightseeing is, of course, greatly appreciated as well. ;D

I'm going on holidays there and since it costs me $2.50 for every pound of your, can anyone suggest good fashion shopping streets or shops that are within a reasonable price range?
Also, how much generally do things cost over there. Specifically:
1. Tops
2. Pants/jeans
3. Confectionary
4. Meals out at fast food outlets/restraunts

If you could tell me approx in pounds it would be very much appreciated!
