It is very cheap to travel as a foot passenger from Troon to Larne or Belfast on the ferry but expensive if you are taking a car over. You can fly from Prestwick to Dublin, Shannon or Carrickfin(Donegal)(Aer Arann)

I think that the Seacat has actually stopped sailing. Flying is probably the cheaper option with flights from Ryanair and Easyjet. I am not a great fan of Ryanair as their customer service has to be the worst in the world however they are cheap and you get what you pay for.

i think you could probably get a cheap flight out of Glasgow to Dublin, there are plenty of discount airlines in UK & Ireland. When I went I took a ferry but it was before the seacat so i don't remember it being that expensive.

The cheapest way to travel is to take the bus from Glasgow to Belfast, the ticket also covers the cost of the ferry. Its £35 return for an adult, students and children under 16 are less. You buy the tickets in Glasgow Buchanan Street Station from the citylink desk.
