travelling to ireland on ferry as foot passenger only

I have never known anger like the kind I experience on the tube.

My biggest LU gripe is waiting in line to top up my Oyster card, waiting in a long queue for the machine which will accept cards, waiting for 15mins or so, and everyone in ahead of me is paying with coins which they could have used at any of the coin machines which have no queue. It is infuriating.

And when you're standing by a seat, the person gets up so it's available to you, but you can't sit until they get past you, and some little person just dashes in and steals it...

Please fellow Londoners, share your stories and let's all be angry together.

Does anyone know of a cheap (under 25 pounds) place to stay in either Watford or Huntingdon. As I will be getting about on foot I need to be as close as possible to the city centres. I have tried hostels but there aren't any in these towns.

I have an account with Washington Mutual in the US. How much do British banks (specifically HSBC, but others if you know) charge to use their ATMs - to make withdrawls from a foreign (Washington Mutual) checking account?

I will be staying near Holborn and I will not go around too far. Should I still purchase a 2 or 3 day tube pass? How much does a single ticket cost normally?

Ok, I don't want to live exactly in London but would like to be able to get to it fairly easy (like 30 minutes or so away). So, whats a good town/city near London and what makes it great? Thanks!

....ok, here they are:

1) What part of England would you suggest for two 19 year old
American females and why do you suggest it please?

2) Is it very difficult for an American to get a job in England? I don't mean some fancy job, but like working in a shop or something...anything really (short of illegal of course).

3) Are there many cultural differences between (southern states)Americans and Brits?

I have been to three other countries (France, Switzerland, and Italy) but never to England and thats a place I've always wanted to go....so thank you for your help!

I'd like to work some time in England. I know about the conditions in Switzerland but I've no clue about your conditions. Where do I get workpermissions? Could I go somewhere and ask for a job to get a work permisslion like foreigners can do in CH? How does it work with taxes? Please help me to get as much information as possible.

I won't need to buy my ticket for a few weeks. I'm only going to be in London for about 4-5 days as part of a vacation. I'm concerned that taking a discount flight with a carrier like Ryanair or Easyjet might waste a lot of time. I'd have to take a train to Beauvais airport from Paris, and then land in a smaller airport outside of London and spend a few hours getting to London. On top of that the time required to check baggage in, etc...
