forget the City's in the UK .Its the villages that are the pretty,unspoilt places especially in the Yorkshire dales where you can still leave your doors unlocked,walk at night to the lovely village pub,leave knowing you wont be approached by little thugs ,arrive at your front door ,listening to the owls and other wild life and if you have spent a few extra hours in the company of friends(most country pubs let you stay a little longer as there are no police to be seen)you will have the pleasure of the dawn chorus of birds as the country side is full of them

In the UK, that would probably be Bath or York, but there will be a lot of people who don't agree.
In Italy, I love Milan, but I guess people from Venice or Florance would call me a philistine

bagdad, its the begining of civilisation, lots of old beatiful buildings, photogenic gardens with a clear river running through the middle of it. Its such a peaceful, relaxing city with lots to do and places to visit...
