Ok. Real stupid question, but here goes. Is New Guinea Papuan part of Austrila? Just found my grandfathers discharge papers and it says he served there during WW2. I have never heard of that place. thanks in advance.

Hello!
I'm considering moving to Australia with my girlfriend when I finish University, and am currently considering a 3 month "trial" December 2007-Mar 2008. We are in the early stages of planning, but I want to see Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and maybe stay one month in each place... What I'm worried about is where to stay for that time. I would prefer not to stay in a hostel for the whole period, and cannot afford hotel. So if there is anyone who knows of a private Bed and Breakfast kind of thing that could house me and my girlfriend for a couple of weeks in any of the mentioned cities, please let me know!

I heard from my cousin, who lives in Melbourne, that there’s actually a hole in the ozone layer. Unfortunately,it locates upon near Australia, so the sunlight there might cause skin cancer. Is that correct? I supposed it should be somewhere else, such as the Eastern America, where there are so many factories!..and smoke from chimneys causes global warming, defintely! Australia’s air quality is not that bad, I believe!
I’m going to live in Sydney next year, so I want to confirm if it’s correct then I’ve got to prepare for long T-shirts and trousers once summer comes… please offer at least a source of ur answer, whether u think this is correct or incorrect! Thank you a lot!!

Are there any ferries that will take cars across the islands? I am interested in renting a car from the Auckland and drive down to the south. Is this possible or do I need to leave my car in Wellington and take a ferry over to the South Island and rent another car?

Im from cold rainy britain and rarely use suncream!! but we are moving to Oz next month, how do you protect yourselves and your kiddies on a day 2day basis, is it necessary to apply suntan lotion every day, do you have nice moisturisers that contain an spf or do you have to use the horrible heavy sticky suncreams like we have here all the time!!! Sorry if it sounds silly!!! We are moving to Adelaide.

Why do the australians have an army full of kid on soldiers, when it is well known and part of commonwealth diplomacy that britain (australias daddy) will protect them if they ever went to war.
The australian army is has one of the weakest navy, land force and airforces in the world.

Australians can sleep well at night knowing britain does not, britain protects australia as it is incapable of protectin itself.

I was having such a bad day, I had just found out I didn't get a bassinet seat and I was going to have to hold our 22 pound son for our 11 hour flight home to LA and then I hear about an exit fee. I was about to come unglued or possibly cry because I was so frusterated and just wanted to go home.
Why....why do they have this fee? As if there aren't enough lines at the airport to stand in. I can't leave unless I've paid a fee to leave?
Deep cleansing breaths. International travel with 3 kids is no fun.
