Is it true that the first Europeans to see kangaroos asked the Aborigines what they were & when the Aborigines answered "Kangaroo" which actually meant "I don't know, mate" the Europeans thought it was the name of the animal ? Or is this another of those stories which is actually complete cr*p ?

My father reads it and more and more i'm amazed by the nationalistic/racist stories I feel like im in nazi germany the past few months.??? the oz i grew up in was never like this?

I really don't think the cronulla riots would have happened if not for the daily telegraph urging it all on "our beach" "our land" Racism is normal but I think the telegraph really encourages it - the "US" VS "THEM" attitude.

When I was out yesterday I was shocked when some anglo-aussie kid was trying to punch up a aussie-asian kid because the boy walked past him to fast and brushed against him,the asian kid was completely frightened and trying to get away and he would'nt stop hitting him.

Then today down the st,masses of people have flags on their heads? in my entire life in oz i've never seen people wearing flags on their heads esp in such huge numbers even on australia day-NEVER,not in all my years.Cronulla riot time being the only other time, the daily telegraph being the big force behind it.,

Basically, I need any tips on how to book the flight, as when I try tobook a return flight it always asksfor a specific return date, but as I'm not sure when I would be coming back I want to book a ticket that enables me to fly back on more flexible dates, certain dates over a certain period of time. Any tips? By the way I'm British and am flying from UK.

I moved to Phenix City, Alabama in December of last year from Australia and with Australia Day being tomorrow I am wondering how I should celebrate the occasion?

A bbq is not really an option as its freezing cold at the moment so I was wondering if any one had any ideas...or if you are Australian and not in Australia how do you celebrate?

Thanks...and have a great day everyone!!!

Or would it just be a total mess and pointless for my future!!

During the news they showed some footage of a shark that was found in Japanese waters.

It was a prehistoric looking thing with a large shark's head, followed by what looked like the body of a giant eel. Quite a rare find, as these sharks apparently normally live 600m in the depths

Did anyone catch what the name of this species of shark was, or know what it is called?

The Australian version of Monopoly is being made and, as a Queenslander, I am rather surprised to learn that Queensland is one of the least popular places in Australia and that South Australia is the most popular place. As such, I'm wondering whether people on Yahoo! agree with the findings of http://www.monopoly.com.au or not?
