theres absolutelt hundreds of different visas that you can get in on, my daughter recently went on a year out with the intention of getting sponsored. she had trawled for 18months to try and find the right visa, she even got into university over there but then the government said they wanted£32.000 up front so she just went on a year travel visa, travelled for 3 months then found a job and hassled them into sponsoring her which she had to pay about $3000,she has to stay in their employment for 2yrs in total, shes goodat her job and has been promoted twice, so its a hard slog and you have to be devoted to your job or seem to be for 2 years, if you can drop on the right lawyer or should i say a good lawyer once over there who deals in immigration visas you can do almost anything and work around anything, she now has only 10months till she gets her permenant residency then she can apply for a parents visa for me, but theres a waiting list of 10 years at the moment but if i pay the goverment a fee of about $27.000 i can be in there in about 1yr.thats because id be classed as a dependent parent. it all works on a point system, for example and this is only a rough estimate, if you are a brain surgeon you might get 35 points, but if your a hairdresser or a joiner you might get 60 points and i think you only need 60 points and a bit of cash to get in,they are desperate for menial workers, i dont mean that detrimental but they need hands on people, theres another way of getting points and that is to build a house or buy new in what they call regional areas, they are trying to build up the hinterland, so if you opt to live out of what they call the mainlands you get extra points, you also have to bear in mind that whatever cash you go over there with they take half off you and keep it for about 18months, they give it back to you, once they have decided you can support yourself, but you also have to bear in mind that you can never claim any benefit or anything like that from Australia, you have to be self sufficent for the rest of your life, theres no hand outs. with your careers you sound as though you might stand a chance just trawl Austrlian access visas n you,ll find more info, it can take a long time but youll get there eventually good luck, i may bump into you if you in the brisbane area.

Check http://www.immi.gov.au for visa requirements, but as your husband has an engineering background you should be able to get the points you need. If you qualify, download the forms from the website. The process involves: a skills & qualifications assesment, a medical (including chest x-rays & HIV test), a police check, and a couple of thousand pounds in application fees (non-refundable). You can also use a migration agent to help make the process slightly easier, but that brings the cost up a bit as you have to pay their fees as well. Good luck!

Make application and if you have the required points, its all down to patience.
Make sure that you bring sufficient evidence of qualifications, work experience, testimonials from referees etc. with you. Skills/trades recognition processes are improving, but can be a pain.
There are plenty of cricket coaches in most states that can help bring him up to local club standard by the way.

Its not that easy to move there from the UK if you dont have a trade that they are particularly short of. They always need nurses, doctors, plummers, carpenters etc so an engineer may well fit into this 'wanted' category. You will get more info on line and see how many points you get and if you qualify. Dont blame you for wanting to get away. Im training to be a nurse and thats where Im headed when I finish. Good luck.

You need to visit the embassy/aus. immigration office.
You need to satisfy a "point score" list to get in. These will be things such as age, degrees, children, money and so on. You need a certain number of points over all these categories.
At leas thats how it was for when i moved...

Go to the Australian embassy web site and fill in the on line questionnaire, this will show you how many points you have , then it will tell you how many points you need. From what you say you should be O.K.
