I moved to Phenix City, Alabama in December of last year from Australia and with Australia Day being tomorrow I am wondering how I should celebrate the occasion?

A bbq is not really an option as its freezing cold at the moment so I was wondering if any one had any ideas...or if you are Australian and not in Australia how do you celebrate?

Thanks...and have a great day everyone!!!

Fly the flag and decorate your house like the americans do for independance day.

eat lamb, and invite your friends over to join you.

maybe have a lamb roast or do chops on the fry pan.

if you don't have the cricket on cable, or you can't get it, get on the internet and stream the live scores.

make lamingtons and a pav.

play/sing the national anthem and waltzing matilda

just have fun with your family and friends

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!! :)

oh, and don't forget BEER!!

First of all, happy Australia Day! I've been a fan of Australia, and Australians, for 20 years -- had a good friend from Fremantle back in the Eighties, and since then I've just been predisposed to like Aussies.

One word of caution -- don't make up a plate of Vegemite sandwiches and try handing them out to your Yank mates, they won't appreciate them. :-)

If you work in an office, though, everybody'd love it if you brought in a couple of Violet Crumbles, broke them into bite-sized pieces, and kept them on a plate at your desk. You may have noticed, but we Americans have a real sweet tooth.

Or you could have an Aussie Trivia Game -- easy questions (like "The kangaroo is: a) a bird b) a marsupial c) a reptile d) a fish") get a piece of Violet Crumble, and hard questions (like "Uluru is: a) the national airline of Australia b) a derogatory name for New Zealanders c) the native name for Ayers Rock d) a variety of salt-water crocodile") get a hug and a kiss.

(I'll take my hug and kiss now, because I know what Uluru means... and because my wife is keen to see it some day, it can be just a nice little peck on the cheek. :-)

Again, happy Australia Day! We'll have to pick up a bottle of McLaren Vale old vine shiraz to celebrate...

Happy Australia day to you too! I hope you're liking it in America.
You could paint a small Australian flag on yourself, invite all your friends over and do an indoor bbq over a small grill or stove.Tell them interesting trivia about Australia.Maybe you could all bundle up and have a game of cricket,if you like sport.

This is my first Australia Day in England! don't think much is going on really as I am in a small town West of London.

I will just wave my flag and use my Australian flag beach towel and chat to family back home.

Have a good one.......

hehehehe! No BBQ hey? well you will have to watch the cricket on cable somehow and have a few drinks to match. Dont forget to crank up the heat and get in the Bikini! tiz glorious weather here in Melbourne, Oz today.

Might have to grill up some snags indoors! (however don't ever use a BBQ indoors!).

have fun - we are ;)

satisfied Australia Day to any Australians accessible! i might want to rejoice it myself with quite Vegemite, yet i have already tried it and that i'm no longer making that mistake again. :) MQ: i will't reproduction and paste on the gadget i'm using, so all i will do is call it. besides, i will pass with "Locomotivation" by potential of Tommy Emmanuel--the in uncomplicated words Australian guitarist to ever be named a C.G.P. (qualified Guitar participant) by potential of the excellent Chet Atkins. besides the actual shown reality that i might want to pick to point yet another Australian guitar virtuoso named Joe Robinson, who's round my age. he's performed with Emmanuel previously and he's astonishing besides. BQ: Nope. i might want to attempt it if I had the threat in spite of the undeniable fact that. BQ2: In all honesty, I even haven't any freakin' theory.

Do what you would do in Australia except with a coat on.

Do a get together with your new friends. I am sure they would be interested in the holiday.
