In Australia the current is 240 volts, but the plugs & sockets used are different to those in the UK. You will either need to get a plug adaptor or, if coming to Australia for longer than a holiday, think about getting the plugs on the appliances replaced.

240V is the nominal provider voltage score. in case you have been to truly seem on the dryers factors and motor you will in all probability locate that it states the voltage as 230 or a hundred and fifteen for the motor. it extremely is the equipment score. you are able to commonly prepare +- 10% of this fee to the equipment and nevertheless gain ordinary operation. in case you seem on the receptacle and twine/plug you will see that it says 250V as a replace of 240 or 230 or 220. this does not imply the voltage on the receptacle is 250V however. 220 is an archaic term left over from some time past interior the day. It sticks around by way of fact it rolls off the tongue so properly. Voltage readings are dynamic. they are constantly changing per a lot you have on your place and a lot that could or is probably no longer on at an commercial plant down the line or perhaps miles away. each and every time a lot are switched on or off the voltage will replace. How lots relies upon on fairly some factors like how super of a load replaced into switched, conductor impedance, regulation of the gadget and transformers plus different issues. outstanding now i will approximately assure the voltage at my house is getting closer to 250V. although during the day the voltage will hunch to around 243V or so only by way of fact of modifications in loading that are happening around me.

The others are right re voltage and plug shape.

You can use your UK hairdryer (if you have an adaptor) but the extra voltage will fry your US hairdryer as it's built for 110v.

Bring UK applicances but leave the US ones at home unless you've got a built-in transformer (like all Laptop computers do).

it is 240 volts. Check your hair drier to see if it has a 110 to 240 volt toggle switch. If yes and you have the parallel pins on the plug as in the US, you can just bend them slightly to fit the socket from this "I I" to this "/ \" shape. Otherwise I think you could cause some damage.

they use different adapters so no you wouldnt be able to use those products in australia. I know this because i work at radioshack and we have had customers come in and ask for them, and after checking if they really needed them it showed that they did.
