Succcessive Australian Governments have spent very little when it comes to protecting any of our wildlife. We are a rich country and our wildlife is different from anywhere else in the world, but compared to our GNP the amount we spend is pitiful. A lot of the work in wildlife rescue and support is done by volunteers with very little government help. If you are concerned, you treally should write to our Government, a lot of overseas visitors come here to look at our beutiful ecosystems - we make money from this but put very little back.
