Get a multi-region DVD player first so you can take your UK DVDs and play Aussie ones. PS2 will play games from there or here. Appliances are fine, all run on 240 vts, however you'll need plug converters.

If you were in the UK and are returning to Australia I'm pretty sure you have to declare them with customs if they're worth over a certain amount, but otherwise it's no problem. You'll need to get a converter in order to plug them in to our power points, but our tv and game systems run on PAL the same as the UK unlike the US with the NTSC. Hope that helped.

Australian DVD players are multiregion by law. Any DVD from any zone has to be playable on an Australian DVD player so don't worry about zones over here.
If the gear you are bringing is for your own use, you should have no problems but if you intend to sell it you should talk to Customs first.
