That happened today: http://www.turkishdailynews.com.tr/article.php?enewsid=81551

I thought Jews were against the use of the term "genocide" as this would gradually diminish the impact of Jewish genocide. But it seems that this is not the case. Not anymore. I am not quite sure I understand, however, the reasons behind this sudden change in diplomatic terms. Thats why I wanted to post this here.

Perhaps Turkish people have followed the story more closely than I do.

On the other hand, Abraham Foxman, the director of the most powerful Jewish lobby said today (despite their negative stance):

"We continue to firmly believe that a congressional resolution on such matters is a counterproductive diversion and will not foster reconciliation between Turks and Armenians and may put at risk the Turkish Jewish community and the important multilateral relationship between Turkey, Israel and the United States,"

Fine. But then why this sudden change in their position?

I live in San Diego and I want to go to L.A. this weekend with my girlfriend. I'm looking for some suggestions of what we can do while we're there.
I want something really odd and strange that we can go do. Something other than the normal touristy crap. Anyone know of any unique and strange locations, museums, stores, etc? ANY ideas are welcome! Thanks!

credit card and you know all those television advertisements say they are accepted world wide. Is this true of Morocco? I am taking some cash, but since I'll be there for 90 days I don't want to take that much cash and don't want to pay the fee to have it sent by Western Union if I can avoid it.

Second part: besides my clothes and shoes of course, and shampoo, soap, hair dryer etc. I am also packing wet wipes, pocket kleenexes and hand sanitizer thanks to the previous questions and information about the bathrooms. I've got my mp3 player, dvd/cd player, cds, videos for my long layover in London. I've purchased gifts for his family, taking artificial sweetener(I'm a diabetic) cuz not sure I can get it there. My meds, passport and documents to get married. Can anyone think of anything important I haven't listed that I will need cuz I'm gonna be there for 90 days. Any suggestions are appreciated as long as I can do it quickly cuz I'm leaving on Tuesday, August 28th.

Has anyone met an older person teaching English in Japan? I have heard that some employers can work you really hard. I have a lot of experience teaching art. I would love to go to Japan and teach, but I don't want to stick out as too old. I'm also not that strong.

Any suggestions, experiences? I always choose a best answer.

Any tips or advice would be great! Am I able to bring water and soda on the ship with me? Good excursions in Cozumel (I used to live in Key west so I pretty much know everything there)
Good places on the ship! Does it feel very crowded? My husband and I are both 24 and newlyweds and so is the other couple that we are going with. Thanks In Advance!

i'm half japanese.
i hate japan.
i just spent some time there. worthwhile learning experience, but never again. i'm ashamed of my bloodline like i never was before.
and i'm not some narrow minded homemaker who can't step outside my comfort zone, anything but that. i love travelling, have had amazing experiences everywhere but japan.

i like starting big fights, so give me your worst if you're a japanophile or a japanese. (i am actually far more disturbed by japanophiles than actual japanese people.)

by and large, japanese people are extremely uncreative and narrow minded in everyday life situations. i'm not talking about their obvious brilliance and prowess in music, art, their crazy variety shows, just the random stuff you see going on everywhere, i love all of that, of course. but their bureaucratic ways, total inability to think outside the box, mindnumbing coldness, the fact that no one talks to strangers casually (even amongst the japanese themselves) drove me cuckoo.

I am helping a seasoned citizen group on a trip to barcelona Spain. They are staying at the Princess Sofia Gran hotel November 19-21. I'm trying to find a local tour operator to provide a 1-day tour of barcelona. Total group of 10-12 people. They need to ride most of the way, some have limited mobility, although none are in wheelchairs.
It would be beneficial if tour operator would pick them up at the hotel.
Any recomendations?

Commercial airplane Jets (i.e Boeings, Airbus') fly at altitudes of 30,000-40,000 feet during the course of their flight. I never have understood why it was necessary to do so. Why can't they fly at 4,000 feet or so? Wouldn't it be easier for a pilot to maneuver a more safe landing in the case of an emergency if the airplane was not so high in the air?

Had a recent bad experience on a package we booked thru an agency, aspects that included each area they booked, transportation, hotel, and air. For example the room did not have an ocean view, the fridge never worked, maids who cleaned out our room before we checked out, (belongings we never did then get back) the local rep told us she changed our flight, when she did not, and then the airline moved us to an overnight layover, which we were then responsible to pay for a room. uuugh, and this is just a start.

Any tips on what works. I suspect they will keep shifting the blame.
