Had a recent bad experience on a package we booked thru an agency, aspects that included each area they booked, transportation, hotel, and air. For example the room did not have an ocean view, the fridge never worked, maids who cleaned out our room before we checked out, (belongings we never did then get back) the local rep told us she changed our flight, when she did not, and then the airline moved us to an overnight layover, which we were then responsible to pay for a room. uuugh, and this is just a start.

Any tips on what works. I suspect they will keep shifting the blame.

May I ask what Resort you went to? Okay, as someone who is in Sales & Marketing for Hotels & Resorts, I can help you with this. Firstly, you need to decide who you REALLY want to complain about-either your Agent, the Airline or the Resort itself. You cannot just blame everyone or you will come across as someone who is just trying to get something for nothing. My recommendation would be to complain ONLY about the Resort. Write a very long, detailed letter to the Director of Sales & Marketing and Managing Director for that property and have your Travel Agent pass it along to them on your behalf. Be pointed and honest in your complaints, i.e. the fridge was broke, room was not as described, maids stole, etc. It's a good chance you will get one or more room nights credited back to you or free nights towards a future stay. You can also complain to your Agent that she recommended the property to you (if she did). Don't bother with the Airlines as they really do not care if they didn't even pay for your room when they changed your flights. Good luck to you.

There are agency associations, Find out if this agency is a member and cc the letter to the association. Also, report them to the BBB
