Travel - 1 July 2007

We are visiting LA next month and are thinking of driving to Vegas. Yahoo maps said the trip was nearly 300 miles and about 4.5 hrs. Yahoo said to take I-15 N most of the way.

Is the drive scenic, photo worthy, long, rough, boring, highway, desert, rural, or urban?
Are there gas stations or restaurants on the way?
What's the drive like?
Do you have any advice to make the journey better?

I really want to live in France or England but I'd really like to know how to get residency or become a citizen. What I heard is that once you get citizenship of one European country, you can live anywhere in Europe.
The only way i've heard of how to get residency or citizenship is by marrying someone who's a citizen of Europe or a job transfer. Are there any other ways? Websites that state clear information on how to get residency in Europe is welcome as well!

I currently live in Michigan (have lived here my whole life except for a semester in Chicago), and I am working toward an elementary education certification. I will be student teaching in the Fall of 2008, and looking for a job that December. The job market for teachers in Michigan is horrible, but everyone says that AZ is always looking for teachers.

(I really don't think the hot weather will be an issue for me...I hate Winter, and I definitely prefer to be too hot than too cold.)

I would like to live in a city that is relatively safe, and has a relatively low cost of living.

I recently heard their was a ship named the Titanic 2 and I would love to take the cruise but when i searched it no searches came up besides rumors for a Titanic 2 movie. I am really interested on going on this ship so if anybody can tell me whether these rumors are real or just made up please do so! I have a very special friend of mine coming from Morocco, I want to suprise him and wait for him at the airport, so that when he arrives I will be there! The only problem is, that he only told me the day hes coming back, he didnt tell me the time, the airline that he is travelling by, hes coming by plane ofcourse, I really need your help, is there any way of finding out the time, I know his full name and date of birth, is it possible to find out? I'm in NJ, and in december/january I plan on leaving my job. Before I find a new one, I would like to do a bit of traveling (and soul searching! :) I'd love to do something that perhaps involves some volunteer work... and also gives me time to see the sights. One place that I've always wanted to go is Australia, but I'm not 100% set that it's the only place I want to go. I wonder, would a travel agent be able to come up with something that would involve the volunteering, or at least me doing some good while vacationing? So, would it be worth it for me to go to one vs. taking the time to search out something for myself?

Also, do travel agents cost a LOT more than if I did it myself? I understand they charge for their services cause they need to make a living, but if it's a HUGE price spike, I'm not sure I'd use one...

I'm leaving to Russia in 2 days & while reading tips on what to take on carry-on, people are saying that theyre taking hair straighteners & curlers & cellphone chargers, but why? Why would you need those things on the plane if you could just keep them in your checked luggage?

I plan on taking my own pillow, blanket, a deck of cards, ipod, a few books, a few magazines, my camera, chapstick, some food & candy & gum, painkillers, & my glasses/case & contact case/eyedrops/cleaning solution.

Is this enough? Is it alright? It seems like I dont need to take so much- just things to entertain me. Sorry if the question seems stupid, but i was just confused why people were taking things such as hair curlers & tweezers & mosquito repellent on the plane if they obviously dont need it there-if they could just keep it in their luggage.

I'm going 2 New York with a friend this weekend & we would like to go 2 out 2 some clubs that play Hip hop & R&B music. We are both over 21, but don't mind going to 18 and over clubs. We would like to party with people in their 20's. We don't like 2 party with the 30 & over crowd. We also are on a budget & don't want to pay more than a $20 cover charge. We don't really care about celebrities that much either. We just want 2 go somewhere that's poppin.

I'm interested in the more urban areas, the local life etc.
Auckland and Christchurch are probably the only two cities I will have time to visit.

I want to visit in the "off-season" avoid tourists avoid being overcharged etc.

The DMV is always packed and i hate it. Besides the rude workers, the ones who don't bother to take a damn bath too disgust me!
