All can happens here in Brazil. Some white men attract some black women, some black women attract some white men, some black men attract some black women, and some white women attract some black men... But i think the most of black people are attracted to white people, and white people are attracted to black people. We cant know this exactly. All can possibly happen.

Attraction is attraction and people will like each other regardless of skin colour. BUT in BR racism is very subtle and I absolutely agree with Quindim88.

Most Brazilians will tell you that there is no racism in Brazil but the sad reality is that the only way a Black person will ever be able to date whomever he or she wants to is if the Black person is rich.

The reason you probably never had any problems dating your Black Brazilian girlfriend is that unfortunately most turists in BR that 'date' Black girls are usually paying them for their 'dates'. This leads most BRs to think that a Black woman dating a tourist is only in it for the money, it's temporary and the tourist deserves to get what he pays for. For the most part, as with the rest of the world, Black women are seen as sexual objects and nothing more than that.

Usually, the way that this form of racism is maintained in the upper classes is through very subtle social controls, such as saying the Black person is not from a 'good family' or doesn't have a good enough job, or that the couple does not seem 'right' together. The only place where Blacks and Whites (and all the variations of colour that exist in BR) are able to date and marry freely is in the lower classes.

Yes, because black and mulatto brazilians big part normally be very racists toward blacks. Black brazilian usually hates blacks, for this they make miscigenation everyday. I'm brazilian and i hate miscegenation. I'm caboclo (whites + amerindians only). I want to breed with only a light-skinned mestizo like me. I know what I affirm, cuz I'm Brazilian.

From viewing La Esclava Isaura it looks as if the white Brazilian men are attracted to black Brazilian women.

It depends of the person... it's an obvious answer but that's the truth. But usually the average ideal of beauty in Brazil is Eurocentric.

Like you said, it´s not really a racial question, is more a social one.
The so called "nice" families don´t accept easily someone from a "lower" class as a new member, and it is worse when the "bad" part of the couple is the male.
It is very subtle, but it is there.

There is ethnic tension, but most of the population is mulatto. So, there must be some love between the two races.
