I will be in the area in a couple of weeks and I am unsure of what to do all day for 5 days with my 13 year old brother. Any good places to visit? Names of good restaurants would be appreciated too.

I am going to visit NY this summer and am going to visit Canada for the day. Last year when we went, I showed my i.d. and was given no problems. Do you need a passport to drive into Canada (right there at the border of Canada and Buffalo, NY) to spend a few hours? Will my i.d. and my childrens school i.d's and Birth Certificates or Shot Records suffice?

What part of France are people referring to, when they say provence? North? East? Is Normandy considered provence?
Can you suggest a 'provence' I can visit while in Paris?
I want to experience a village feel of France.

My wife and I are changing directions in how we vacation. We are going to the wilderness now to get away from it all. We want to go to British Columbia and the Yukon Territories of Canada. These two places are one the top of our list due to the beauty of the nature there. However, we will not hike in Grizzly country without protection. So what are the laws up there in the way of carrying a gun on hiking trips?

It's my first time to Paghee :) Here's my itinerary:

Day 1: Eiffel, Musée d'Orsay, St Germain des-Prés.
Day 2 : Just stroll around and get lost.
Day 3: St Chapelle, Ile de la Cité, Notre Dame de Paris, Musée National du Moyen Age.
Day 4: Musée Picasso, Centre Pompidou, Marais.
Day 5: Musée du Louvre, Champs Elysées, Arc de Triomphe
Day 6: Side Trip to Versaille
Day 7: Eiffel again, last french kiss lol

And If I have time, I will spend 2 days in Bayeux to see the WWII monuments.

I have 2 questions:
1-Does my itinerary sound reasonable?
2-Is Paris pleasant in september? Still crowded?

I will be traveling this summer, both Domestic and International. I hear loads of people complaining about the security measures and what you can/can't take on a plane.
Truthfully, I haven't been on a plane in at least 3 or 4 years. What advice would you give me?
Is it safe to put my medicines into my checked bag so I don't have to worry about security taking it from my carry-on?
One of my trips includes a layover. What are the chances that my bags will be lost?

I am spending a week travelling in Italy and then need to get over to the Greek Islands, either Mykonos or Santorini. I am pretty flexible on the port I need to leave Italy from. Does anyone know the best way to do this as there doesn't seem to be a direct ferry?

I live in Ottawa and pretty much everything is closed on Canada day. I'm going on vacation to Montreal, so I'm wondering if everything is closed on July 1st as well.

My wife and I wanted to take our family to the Ocean. This is something we have never done as a family. My wife found this site that lists beach rental properties by owner...

http://www.vrbo.com/

Using this site, we found a nice rental property and contacted the owner thought the site. The deal is, we are to sign a lease he is emailing us, send the week rental + a $300 security deposit by mail and he will meet us at the property the night we are scheduled to arrive.

Now, I am a pretty trusting soul. But my spidey sense says.. HEY DUMMY! Are you really going to send a check for over $1000 to a person you have never met to rent a property you have never seen (other than web pictures) on good faith that he will be there the night your rental is scheduled to begin?

Doesn't this sound like the beginings of the "vacation from hell?"

On the flip side, this might be perfectly normal and customary.

Can someone "in the know" enlighten me?

We will be in europe for one month; after Amsterdam we will go to Prague then Austria. We want to attend a rock music festival in Salzburg but how do I get tickets? My boys are big and independent for their ages, lots of travel experience, not fussy, but I am not as healthy or quick as them and would like to stay with them in a room, but know that won't happen in a hostel. Any suggestions?

I have been on atleast 30 airplanes in the past 3 years and everyone of them has said it was okay for my father to wait with me at my terminal because i was only 15. Now, i'm taking Alaska airlines, and they are saying that he cannot wait with me unless he pays an extra $100. WHy is this? Does anyone have any experiences like this they can share that would maybe help me out a bit? Thanks!

I'm staying for 6 days, and really just want to walk to the whole dang thing. I'm in good shape, but would I be better busing some too and choosing my spots to walk?

A very silly question I realize, but I'm just curious how "walkable" you have found Paris?
