I live in Ottawa and pretty much everything is closed on Canada day. I'm going on vacation to Montreal, so I'm wondering if everything is closed on July 1st as well.

Expect most stores and businesses to be closed on both June 24th (Quebec National Day) and July 1st (Canada Day), as the holidays land on a Sunday this year.

In most cases, department and grocery stores should be closed along with government offices. Corner stores and restaurants are usually allowed to remain open.

There is also a bill passing before the government to try and amend the law on store closings for that day, which may be in effect by the time that holidays arrive.

Yes, pretty much everything will be closed on Canada Day. In addition to that, since Canada Day falls on a Sunday some institutions such as the banks will be closed the following day (Monday, July 2nd) in observance of Canada Day.

I don't live there anymore, but I think stores are pretty much closed. Plus it's Moving Day so expect some traffic issues.
