The waiters and waitresses dress up in costumes as knights, fair ladies, squires etc. Is there such a place or am I mis-informed?

When life gets too stressful, everybody dreams of escape. Whether you fantasise about an alternate life, or imagine a chance to start over, where would you go & how would you do it?

He opened up the country to the rest of the world. People no longer had to limit their criticism to hushed words said at the kitchen table. He introduced economic reform so people could start their own businesses. Understanding that vodka and productivity hardly go hand in hand, he even tried to combat alcoholism by restricting its sale.

So what did he do wrong? Why did the Soviet economy collapse when reforms were introduced -- but "communist" China's reforming economy is growing?

This question should probably go under History, but I am more interested in hearing opinions of people who come from or have a deep understanding of former Soviet countries. Best answer to the most convincing argument.

On the sixth day God turned to the Angels and said: "Today I am going to create a land called Lebanon. It will be a land of outstanding natural beauty. It shall have tall majestic mountains full of snow, beautifully sparkly rivers cutting through forests full of all kind of trees, high cliffs overlooking sandy beaches with an abundance of sea life."

God continued, "I shall make the land rich to make the inhabitants prosper. I shall call these inhabitants Lebanese, and they shall be known as the most friendly people on Earth"

"But Lord," asked the Angels, "don't you think you are being too generous to these Lebanese? Isn't it unfair for the rest of the world?"

"Not really," replied God. "Just wait and see the neighbors I am going to give them."

I have found so far that everything that I have experienced in the OC (scenery, surf, jobs, ect.) has been positive, except the people. Why are people in the OC so smug, judgmental, and self-centered? They act like they are better than everyone else in So Cal and in the country. Why can't they be cool, friendly, and laid-back like people in San Diego? Most of the people there are not rich (except the idiots in Newport who pay over $3,000,000 for a shack on the beach), so why are ALL people of ALL classes in the OC fake and shallow?

Every since I moved to So Cal, I have heard many people talk about or mention the San Fernando Valley. They all act like it is this "cool place" to go to. I went there a few times and drove around. From what I saw, the valley is a completely run-down s*** hole. Even South-Central neighborhoods look nicer than the ones in the valley. The people in the valley act like they live in paradise. The only thing that the valley seems to be know for is the porn industry (which as a young guy who actually has decent morals, I do not support). That and the fact that it is also an industrial wasteland makes it an even bigger crap hole. So why do people act like "the valley" is the place to be in LA? Also, the title of "the valley" actually belongs to the Central Valley of California, so why do people refer to the San Ferando Valley as "the valley?"
