I saw on BBC1 that if your flight was provided with accommodation then you do not have to pay the new APD but no one seems to be able to confirm this. Can anyone help ?

I will be visiting with a friend (both of us 24years). She has never been.

We want to have a look around as well as do something that might be interesting for us. If it is sunny we don't mind going for a walk or doing something out of doors.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I'm flying there with my fiancee tonight and know the beer prices are pretty extreme.

Any tips for decent bars with happy hour/cheaper drinks, especially a sports bar so I can watch the England v Scotland Rugby Union match tomorrow and the Utd v Spurs game on Sunday would also be great!

Cheers!

You see these people getting humilated everyday and you don't do anything about.. Why are u guys used to be treated like animals by your own people.. for example, a police will just beat people up like that.. The government can't do anything about it.. so Anyways it says you're the one who should stand up for your rights.

I'm from England - I'm visiting New York soon and I've heard they're really strict on ID in bars and so on. But I wanna get my drink on! So do you think bartenders etc would accept a UK driving licence with my date of birth and photo on or do i have to carry my passport everywhere? Cos I don't wanna do that, I'd only lose it.
Or would a photocopy of passport do?
Or will I be fine (I'm 26 but occasionally get IDd over here in England where the legal drinking age is 18!)

I'm from Singapore and I'm here since Oct 06. I have never been to any of the Europe countries so this is my first time coming to UK London. I am really really very disappointed. I always thought the people here are more friendly and educated since the living standard here is higher than any of the Europe countries. One example, I was dragging 2 big luggages going to liverpool station. I asked for help from a guy to open up the glass gate to let me through and to my surprise he told me to open up the glass gate myself and I tolerate that. What anger me was he even WANTED me to close up the stupid glass gate. Is this some kind of racism or is that the services from UK? Or is UK is not welcoming any visitor/tourists. I tell myself that I won't even recommend any of my friends to come here for hoildays. I hope the government can try to do something about it. Try going to some eastern countries, you might feel the different approach by the people. So warm and friendly.

I am looking for a website to get maps and directions for an upcoming trip. I would like to avoid the interstates. Both Yahoo and Mapquest have an "Avoid Highways" option, but it does not seem to work. I live in Roanoke, Va., and going to Pensacola, Fl. U.S. Highway 29, not an interstate, passes about 30 miles to the east of where I live, and ends at Pensacola, which would seem like the most logical route. However, both Yahoo and Mapquest show going over 200 miles west into Tennessee and then south on a series of 3 or 4 interstates.

If there is no known "interstate free" websites, perhaps someone is familiar with my general travel plans. Can I take US 29 all the way, or will I, at some point, have to get on an interstate for at least a few miles? Is US 29 broken up at some point?
