People in shoeburyness dont advertise themselves as 'from shoeburyness'. they say 'east Thorpe bay' or 'near bournes green'
shoeburyness has a bit of a bad reputation.... I've seen worse places, but - compared with the rest of southend - its asbo city.
Shoeburyness is where the MOD is... you'll hear daily explosions from the testing areas and the de-comm areas on Foulness.
but, on the plus side, the foulness AWE (Atomic Weapons Establishment) has not been used for years - just watch out for glowing algae and three eyed fish, on the beach
Southend is quite nice. a good shopping centre, good travel connections to London. It even has it's own airport.

Southend is okay generally. Like with everywhere, some areas are nice, some are not so nice.
The High Street in central Southend is great for shopping and the seafront has many amusements, attractions, cafes and shops. Southend has the longest pleasure pier in the world and there is a mini theme park to either side. There is also a sealife centre, mini golf and a coastline that extends for miles.
East Beach in Shoeburyness is actually one of the cleanest beaches in the UK and you will find plenty of local shops, as well as an Asda Supermarket in the centre of Shoeburyness. The public transport is pretty good and you can get to London by train within about an hour from Shoeburyness train station.

considering Shoebury is only 3 miles away from Southend town centre, some parts of it remain quaint and undeveloped. Shoebury has its own beach, East Beach, and there is a big ASDA there for all your local shopping. There's a few local shops but its either ASDA or Southend for anything else. I have lived in southend since 1983 and moved to Shoeebury briefly, then back to Southend. As with the previous answer, some parts are better than others but its an ok place to live. It has in the past had a poor reputation but the spread of Southend and the rise in property prices, the improvements in local schooling and a general improvement in the area means that its better than it was. Good luck. I hope you enjoy living there.

Depends what you want out of it. I grew up in southend and it's just a regular small town, complete with bog-standard high street, binge drinkers, few horrible bits, few nice bits (Old Leigh is lovely in the summer)
Shoeburyness is all right. Bit hard to get anywhere unless you're living near the station or have a car. It's got an enormous Asda which sells everything. Not bad beach too when it's warm.
Southend seafront is tacky like all British seasides are, and full of arcades and stuff. But there's loads of money pumping into the area for regeneration and it's starting to get nicer.

I live about 6 miles away from there. It can be nice to in the summer, visiting the beach, attractions, clubs, pubs and there is also an Adventure island with miniature golf. All along the seafront. It depends on what you like to do. There is a 24hr Asda in Shoeburyness too. There are good parts and bad as with anywhere.

southend on sea is full of chavs,its ok if you are a chav but otherwise i`d steer clear of the place.
Its also known for its stag and hen nights so as you can imagine there are plenty of piss heads out there.If you fancy getting ya face filled then just head for southend.Its a shame really cos it was never like this years ago but just like many parts of britain its turned into ya normal friday/saturday night trouble spot.

I live about 20 miles away and have visited S-O-S many times. Like anywhere else it has good parts and not-so -good parts. I think you'll find Shoeburyness is OK.

Southend- on -Sea, has always been a great lively place
to live at,
Shoeburyness , close by , is a good place in its own right .
Southend town , gives you, all the Clubs, theaters ,pubs , sporting venues,lesusure centers , parks , shops and seaside areas ,you could possibly wish for;
+ good transport access to London
