I'm flying there with my fiancee tonight and know the beer prices are pretty extreme.

Any tips for decent bars with happy hour/cheaper drinks, especially a sports bar so I can watch the England v Scotland Rugby Union match tomorrow and the Utd v Spurs game on Sunday would also be great!

Cheers!

Also, please don't answer unless you know the difference between 'your' and 'you're'. Idiot :-)

and... if you're so poor that you can't visit Reykjavik yourself and just want a Friday rant at how cr@p your life is, then please go & play with the traffic instead.

Iceland at this time of year has limited daylight, so once it goes dark you cannot do sightseeing stuff anymore, so you head to the bars.

Answers from people who have been to Iceland or at least know where it is would be appreciated.

I went to Reykjavik 7 years ago. Beautiful Country. I didn't go to many bars there because I was only there for a very short weekend. I went to "The Dubliner" in town and the Hard Rock. Many of the bars there from what I saw were older pubs. The Hard Rock of course was the major "sports bar" there, but it is quite costly. It is actually connected to the mall.

As far as cheaper drinks/happy hour, I didn't see anything. Everything needs to be imported in Iceland to where there cost is already high and to turn a profit raise it up higher. When I say this I'm not meaning you don't know or understand this. I had before found a link on bars/pubs/restaurants and there type via google before, but I have that link in my favorites at home.

It really is a lovely country though, one of the safest I have ever been to. Be careful of locals wanting to buy you Brennivan, in Icelandic it means "Black Death". Good to try I suppose once, but just one as they are VERY strong!
