Most Dutch citizens do not need a visa as it's a Visa Waiver country if you are just going as a tourist (for less than 90 days) and not planning to work. You need
1) passport -may need to be biometric depending on date of issue. See site below
2) Return ticket for less than 90 days later
3) Have proof of financial solvency and hold a completed and signed visa waiver arrival/departure form (I-94W) -> you'll get this form when you go through immigration.
See site below for full details.

Having a dutch passport and going to the USA should be fine ... but as with all immigration procedures you would most likely need to know the address/ hotel you'll be staying at and for how long.
If you're staying at a hotel, its always good to carry along the reservation you have upon arriving in immigration in the US.

I think you are part of the visa waiver programme whereby EU nationals don't need visas PROVIDED they have a machine-readable passport (the ones with a barcode on the photo page). At some point it will be compulsory also to have biometric data stored in a chip on your passport to qualify for visa-free travel - not sure what the cut-off date is. In any case it is probably better to check the US government website, or contact your local US consulate.

You need a Visa and a Green card to allow you to Work!
Unless you are a Tourists and you sign a Tourist Visitors Visa(Which is good for 90 Days).
Consult you Local American Embassy if it's Work you seek!
