Will a taxi in Midtown NYC take me approx. 12-14 blocks with luggage? In general?

I am going to attempt to get a piece of luggage repaired while in NYC next month. I don't know if this is too short of a distance for a taxi to want to take me and I really don't want to walk WITH it from the Marriott Marquis to W 32nd st. and 5th Ave and back, especially in February. I'm really not much a fan of walking in the cold too much because I'm from somewhere quite warm. Also, if you know exactly where I'm talking about, how busy are they at this repair center and how likely is it that they could repair (a missing wheel on a Samsonite bag) immediately?
