I've been as far south as Albany O.R. looking for a place to live. I work construction and my wife is a nurse so I was wondering if this is a good area to raise a couple of kids and a safe place to live? I just wondering if any one can tell me about this area?

i have some friends that live out near there, another town pretty close by. it's nice from what i've seen of it. It's the traditional small town out in the country feel and not too far from other bigger towns, corvallis or salem, just in case you need to get to a costco for those bulk items or something... i would definitely consider it for a family raising place.... good luck!

I've visited briefly and find it to be very typical of small towns through out Oregon. It's close enough to Corvallis that you get the benefit of a University and new ideas, but seperate enough that it has it's own community feel too. It's also close to both Eugene and Salem for major shoping or employment without having to spend a day getting there and back. There is always a need for construction and nursing workers in the smaller communities, so employment should be easy to find. And because you have construction skills, you can easily purchase a less expensive home and renovate it. The value is much better than the homes in the larger cities.

I'd say take a drive down and visit and see if you like the local restaurants, visit a school performance, and see what the city says about itself on the link below. From what I can see, it looks like they have just what you're after.
