When I make the freestyle motion, as the elbow is overhead, there is a lot of cracking and popping going on. One of my physio's says its scar tissue and I can keep swimming, but the other says that muscle rubbing against bone.
I previously had impingement in the shoulder...
Thank You

I have tried some 'anti chlorine' products but they make my scalp itch. My swimming cap doesn't keep the water out. I have long hair. Can anyone suggest a product that I could perhaps coat my hair with under the swim cap that would treat it every day that will just rinse away? Or other suggestions, many thanks

I can't remember NOT being able to swim. I remember being unsure and afraid, and not as strong as I am now, but the moment I tried, I could swim. I know that babies can swim a little from birth. So I'm curious, who out there can't swim?

I'm going through lifeguard training next Sunday, and I need to get in shape for a non-stop 600 yard swim. Any advice on how I can get in shape fast?

Also any tips on actually completing the swim would be much appreciated. (there's no time limit)

Thanks in advance

The liquid which comes in small plastic containers can be quite expensive. What is the composition of the liquid ? Other than saliva, which doesn`t do a very good job, what else work just as well as the anti-fog liquid ?

Ok so heres the deal I have never been a team sports type of guy ever in my entire life, my parents would always try and force me but I hated it. Anyways so my friend today decided that she wanted me to do swim team and then after I went to the meeting, I decided that it could actually be alot of fun and I might actually enjoy it. Also Im a Sophmore this year and last year as a freshmen I did no extra currirculiar activities and I need to do some this year and the next 2 to make up for it.

But there is one problem, It has been like forever since I have swam in a pool and done like laps and I don't know if im gonna be able to make it, I mean I am in Ok shape but not enough to where I can do like 20 laps tho.

I have a month to train before the first meeting so if anyone would be glad to give me some pointers on what the best workouts are with WEIGHTS, I dont have a pool nor is anyone of them open at this time of year, and my parents wouldnt take me anyways...

There are sea creatures who live over a mile underwater. How do they not get crushed from the water pressure, considering it takes specially designed titanium submersibles to endure that kind of pressure.

I notice the ocean waters are becoming poisonous in Hawaii. I still swim in it. Lately, I've been getting somewhat dizzy now in swimming. I know it isn't water in my ears and this hasn't happened before.
My health is really good. What could it be?

I think the deepest water I've ever jumped into and it didn't bother me was like 11 feet deep. I'd pick the highest platform and just go for it! The thrill of just jumping off something high and falling in mid air, then splashing into deep water was somewhat of a rush for me. I didn't mind doing that. But if I were just sitting at the end of the pool looking at deep blue water? That freaks me out! ( o _ 0 ) I just can't stand to look it!

There has been an outbreak of crypto in many of the pools, and they have made restrictions from no children 5 and under in the pools, must shower before entering the pool etc. I know that it was suppose to be revaulated, and if the number of cases was not down enough that they would close all of the pools. My local pool has been closed because they've been redoing the flooring in the locker rooms and the hallways to the pools (which is crazy because the center just opened in March '07, but the flooring was put down incorrectly) and it is suppose to reopen on Mon. Does anybody know if the revaluation has been done, and the results. If not when will it be done? I'm on the swim team so I'm really missing swimming, and I don't have any pools which are close to go swim at! Thanks.
