No. Most swimming trunks have built-in liners, rendering boxers redundant.

I asked my guy friends this once and I got several different answers.
1.) It keeps them warmer.
2.) If they are shanked, the boxers will usually stay on and the trunk will go down.
3.) If they dive in, the trunks have a tendency to slip off, but the band in the boxers keep them up.
4.) It keeps their "jewels" in place?
5.) If they get a ***** its easier to hide.
6.) They just like showing off their boxers.
Like a lot of people have said, it's a matter of choice. You don't have to, some people just choose to.
I laughed when they said four and five.

Wear whatever you want. Boxers, boxer briefs, briefs. Who cares? I often wear white briefs with my Speedos. Of course, the briefs protrude out the sides and at the waist. I have even gone swimming at a university pool wearing boxers under my Speedo. It is fun to watch the reaction of others.

No, I don't know why you are wearing under wear with swimming trunks any way. If you just have to wear briefs.

Oh this happened to my son, we were in Phuket and bought some of those boardshorts they sell in beach places ...he went surfing and body boarding, within two days his...er..jewels were bright red and a rash soon developed, the sand had infiltrated his soft spots and rubbed and rubbed...
If he had boxers on it might have given him some support...if its left to hang then its going to get sand and things annoying it....
So check the swimming trunks first...will they keep the jewels safe in the web or are they hanging free???

I have two teenage boys. For some reason they think it looks cool to have their underwear band showing out of their trunks. I personally think it is a matter of opinion. What I don't understand is why are the girls wanting to be as skimpy as possible, while the boys insisting on covering up!

if they're more comfortable, then sure . i don't think companies that make the trunks intend you to wear boxers, though, but sometimes it's because they don't want their trunks to sag with nothing underneath.

I think it just depends on what you like to wear. I see and know some people that do and then some that don't.
