I was just going off as usul! I climbed the ladder and walked across the board. I jumped off of the board, but I landed wierd, almost like on my side. Now my right ear hurts like hell, and I can't talk! When it happend and I went under water My mind went blank. I couldn't think. Does anyone know what could have happend? I still have a headache, can't speak, and my ear hurts. I didn't hit the bottom, I know that. All I remember is seeing white and then water. I got out and I ran over to a friend. I can sort of talk but it sounds wierd....it's like a high pitch squeak. I can't talk normally. Any tips on what this could be or how to get it to go away would be greatly apprecated. Thank you all..

Hey all I am looking for a good underwater camera for a girlfriend of mine. I know I could always go ask someone at a shop but I really don’t want a salesman’s point of view. What I’m looking for is the makes and models of some good ones and if you know the price range too that would be great.

I am 41 years old , lean and am basically healthy - not a great body or stamina but no problems either. I hv just started swimming and i would like to know what is considered a 'good workout'. My pool is 15 m long and right now i can't do more than 2 laps continuously. How many should i aim for in an hours time?
I would like a target to motivate myself. Thanks

anyone have any tips on teaching a teenager who has just started to learn to swim on getting basic movements right and then making their way to the deep end?

isn't it a bit harder for them especially if they are afraid of deep end water at such an older age? thanks!

In talking to different construction companies, I was given conflicting stories about the amount of space needed in a swimming pool for it to have a jump board or diving board. Where can I find the state or government specifications or code that governs construction? I was told that the drop from the shallow end would be too steep in a 30' long pool.

I have been treating my pool for algae growth for about a week now, scrubbing it, vacuuming it, shocking it (3 x now), changing filter cartridges almost every other day. I know the algae is dead but how long will it take to clear the water? Should I let the vacuuming and filtering clear the water? How often should I scrub it up? once daily or more often? Please help I am very frustrated. My chlorine level is very high, but I have heard thats ok it will prevent it from growing back. NOTE: My pool is the metal frame pool from Walmart, 15' x 4'.

I go swimming for about an hour a day- but i am only doing it for a month. I get more and more tan everyday! I really want to stop b/c i like my skin tone now cuz i have the sunkissed look but after a while ill get really dark and i need a sunscreen that is CHLORINE FREE and water free i guess it doesnt have to be sweatfree but it wud be nice. i have a combo skin so i want something that is grease free. i heard that chlorine mixed with sun rays makes ur skin tan easily. so the most important thing is that the sunscreen is chlorine reppelent, u can suggest some expensive ones if nessesary but i'd prefer it to be cheap, after all who wudnt? thanx every1!

Hi there,
In advance, Thank you for your reply. I've just begun training with a main company that takes in a lot of kids ages 5 to 13. For each class I handle from 3 to 5 kids at a time. I've begun with some training and now I am getting paid. I however have been curious to know if there are some standard certificates you need prior to becoming a swimming intructor. My boss mentioned I didn't have to bother with taken any? I just started this job and due to their horrible management, they seem a bit careless even in these type of matters. My question is, is he right in saying that I don't need any kind of certificate? Can you coach swimming without any certificate or is there something you definitely have to have prior to teaching?

Sincerely,
K

I really have trouble swimming fly. I have not chosen to swim an IM yet because of my struggle with swimming fly. I have had 4 spine surgeries, and will possibly having another one. I have a scarring condition (called Keloid Scarring) which causes extra scar tissue, and awful looking scars, and becasue of this I have tons of scar tissue which doesn't allow me to move very freely while doing dolphin kicks. My coach told me that this could possible be my problem, and that is why I struggle just even swimming 25 yards. Any suggestions to help my butterfly? Thanks. I'm 14 years old.
