if this is a USAT sanctioned race you can do any stroke you want :)
you can't use any swim aids (floats, fins etc) but I think you can wear a snorkel (check that rule out)
If it is an open water swim you can use a wetsuit providing the water temp is below 78degF (be sure to sues a triathlon specific wetsuit)
You can even hold onto a safety boat providing it does not aid your prgress.

There are no rules saying you can't swim breast stroke, but you'll get left behind by all the freestylers. But good on you for being prepared to be an individual. Good luck!

Yes you can swim however you want just as long as you do your best to not obstruct the other swimmers

Yes you can. I have a teammate who swims solely breastroke every race. Just pace yourself.
