Hi, I have answered this a few times. I am going to copy and paste an answer I gave recently.

Ok, I am doing this as if you have never been in the pool. II would approach it by first just standing in the shallow end. Hang onto the edge of the pool and kick, with your legs behind you.

Also, while you're in the shallow end, practice learning to tread water. (sort of like moving your legs as if you're jogging). You can hang onto the edge or not.

While standing in the shallow end, practice how to move your arms when you swim, (crawl)

One of the first things you need to learn is to put your head under the water. You can do this in the shallow end. I think THAT will be the BIG hurdle. Once you put your head under, it's going to be easy.

Now, as you are feel ok to put your head in the water, do it a little at a time....baby steps. The first time, if you will even get her chin in, that's good!

When you can put yout head in, practice the crawl stroke. Many people I see make the mistake of trying to turn their head back and forth and take a breath every stroke. That is NOT the way to do it; you'll get tired and out of breath too fast. I breathe every 3rd stroke or so.

Then practice the stroke and kicking separately, and put it together.

The best of luck to you! You will LOVE swimming.

ignore the sarcasm and just start to wade in as deep as youre comfortable and lie back and look up and get a feel for your own natural bouyancy first.

now start to paddle your feet up and down and then gradually start scooping the water under you.in a backward underhand motion ..

when you get comfy with that and you want some more speed. turn over and change from an underhand pitching motion to an overhand stoke to pull you forward and dont forget to paddle with your feet as well

Dont forget to breathe in as you pull your arm back on the side youre facing and out while your head is under water. if you get it reversed you wont enjoy yourself much.

how old are you??
who doesn't know how to swim????
normally i wouldn't help you, but ill save you the misery of being made fun f at the town pool.
What you do is lay on the water with your stomach, take your right and left arms and move them in circles but make sure when your right hand is in front of your body your that your left hand is back
and remember to kick your feet
