Im going to JO's too. And our coach gave us a meal plan, and how much we should be eating and all that stuff, he said because were tapering to cut down on our food limits by 50%. Because you dont want to gain 5 pounds right be4 Jo's. Also about 3 days be4 Jo's build up on carbs, like pasta, and also eat lots of foods in high protein. The night before Jo's eat Pasta, and during JO's eat power bars, or Nutrigrain bars, bananas, or foods with high protein. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

P.S. What state are you in, where are you going for JO's.? Im in Florida, im going to JO's in Gainesville.

it depends how much youre practicing it sounds like youre doing 4-5 hrs a day with that calorie count. most likely youre tapering so cut back on the calories by about half.

2 days before load on carbs
day before eat a lighter meal with carbs and lots of protein

morning of have 2 eggs and wheat toast with fruit

munch on fruit and power bars throughout the meet
sip on gatorade throughout the meet
avoid dairy the day of the meet
avoid pasta the day of the meet until after ur done
avoid foods with acid like lemonade the day of
avoid carbonated drinks the day of

after the first day just eat like u did the day before a meet
normal meals moderate on carbs and high in protein and liquids
fruit and eggs are always a good way to start ur days

Your coach should have given you nutritional guidelines. Ask him or her for some. You're fine with 5000 to 6000 calories a day, just make sure they are quality calories high in protein and low in fat. Eat when you're hungry, don't starve yourself, don't force yourself and don't eat anything your body isn't used to within three days of race day or you risk getting sick to your tummy!

I have Jo's to in a few weeks, good luck!
Try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables and preferablly not pop

Pop + swimming = mad feeling in stomach

eat carbs, like pastas. instead of drinking soda, have a smoothie or some milk. don't eat too much, just eat until you're full and then stop
hope this helps, and good luck! :)
