As always, hard to advise without watching you swim, but actually a slight knee bend is part of a good freestyle kick. A proper freestyle kick motion should take advantage of the flexibility in your knee and ankle joints. The power is generated from the hip and flows through the leg almost like cracking a whip. Locking your knees, pointing your toes, or any other physical positioning that causes tension and unrelaxed movement in the water is ill-advised. A good way to get the feel for the proper freestyle kick is to practice with flippers. You'll quickly notice how a whip-like motion impacts your propulsion. Good Luck!

You need to have some flexion in your knees. If you find you are using them too much, focus on pointing your toes as though you need to reach out behind you and touch something with them. This will help you elongate your kick and help with proper technique.

Point your toes, lock your knees and make an effort to kick from the hip only. That should help you.

don't kick your entire knee! Just move your feet quickly. As you move your feet, you entire leg will move along- and slightly bend, just focus on moving your feet.

I used to do that to. what i did was practice for your body to stay level try floating on your stomach or back straight.
Also pointing your toes helps ALOT.

Good luck!
