By tomorrow it'll have that initial scab on it and you'll be fine. Just be careful not to re-open the cut, that could be painful!

Lake water's nothign to worry about. If it's legal to swim in then it's passed water quality tests and is safe for swimmers. Don't wear a BandAid because you could lose it in the water and then it'll be harmful if some fish or animal eats it.

Another option is to put some NuSkin on it. You can find this at drug stores and WalMart, it's a clear gel stuff that goes on the wound like nailpolish and creates an invisible barrier that won't some off in the water and will help protect the area.

Good luck!

It all depends on how clean the lake is. If you are going to a lake where they have to shut down a couple of times a season because of high bacteria levels, I'd be a careful if I were you. If the maintenance is on the up and up, wear a little protection and enjoy yourself. If you can see the lake bottom at 100 feet deep, Stay all day!!

If the knee is no longer bleeding, and has the proper first aid protective cover over the wound, you should be Ok.

If you have no first aid protection on the knee, then there may be a risk from whatever pollution is in the lake, or if you were in a swimming pool, the chlorine there.

well its safe disease wise but I wouldn't take any chances if I was you because only God knows what kind of mythological creatures live inside your local lake and its common knowledge that one think all mythological lake dwelling creatures crave is knee blood My first wife was severely injured in an incident just like that you see she scraped her knee the day before we went lake swimming. After 5mins in the water she was mauled a lagoon monster that had stumbled into the lake.
*(consequently I divorced her because she was left disfigured by the attack and who wants to be seen with some one who's been attacked by a lost lagoon monster?)

I'd say nay to the risk of infection from lake waters. You also never know what creatures in the water might be attracted to blood - there are no sharks, of course, but there might be small fish which could cause undue pain and annoyance.
