Not just a pocket knife, but a large hunting-style knife. Also, I'm talking about carrying it on the street, not while hunting.

I'm not a psychopath; I'm just wondering.

I was considering getting a lever action Marlin/Puma/or similar rifle for farm work, then hoping to carry it out to the deer stand too. Would 357 be an acceptable caiber to use? I like the idea of shooting .38s at work and loading up the .357s for the hunting. Or would I be better off with a .44 special and 44 magums ( and are they interchangeable in a rifle???)

Deer shots will be at 75 years or less. Opinions?

Greetings all! I spend a lot of time with a gun in my hand at my fish farm. My farm hands and I use the .17 HMR, Ruger .204, .22 and shotguns on a daily basis. Each gun has its own special purpose, but I'd like to consolidate down a little bit. I also occassionally carry my Bushmaster AR15 .223

We shoot/scare a lot of birds, typically cormorants and other wading birds ( YES I HAVE A PERMIT), making shots betwen 75-200 yards.

The 204 NEF Handi Rifle has the best range/accuracy combination, but the single shot action prohibits muliple shots in a reasonable time frame.

The 17 HMR is one of my favorites too, but wind can really impact the accuracy of that small bullet.

The farm is a wide open 150 acre space with manicured ponds, so all the shots are not affected by brush/trees.

The hands are very rough on weapons, so any piece must be rather sturdy. Does anyone have a reccomendation on a good weapon & caliber that could consolidate the beneifts into one gun?

Im attempting to build a budget Remington 700 long range rifle. Im doing this just to prove to someone that you can do sub moa for less than $500.00 ! I already have the rifle, just a standard 700ADL 24". I am tring to stay away from HS and Mc for the stock, while not even looking at the USS from Choate. Any ideas on a good bedded stock for less than $200.00 ?

I have also thought alot about optics as we all know, to make a thousand yard shot @ 10" we are going to need a good one. If anyone has any ideas on a budget scope out there that I may not be aware of Im all ears !

Remember guys, Im not doing this because Im broke, I know MC A5 & Leupold is my best bet, Im just tring to get it done at a normal cost. Thanks for the time and the feedback !

I'm wanting it to hunt elk, black bear, Maybe someday even a caribou. I'm thinking either a 300 win mag or a 7mm. When I go and look at them in my local gun shops they all tell me 30-06 is the most versicle. I just wondering if its because here in Iowa nobody stocks 300's or 7mm but they have many brands if 30-06. If they are just trying to sell me what they have. Help I don't want a 30-06 lol

Would like to purchase a concealed carry handgun for my personal protection, but I'm having difficulty locating a dealer that can export outside the US. Can anyone help he out on this? I basically need assistance in locating a licensed gun-dealer who can export outside the US.

Ok, so I spent some time in local gun shops. I saw ALL types of guns. Now, while I don't know if I want a shotgun or a muzzleloader, I did find something else ot confuse me.

I know what smooth bore or rifled mean and does. But my question is while it makes a difference, is a rifled barrel essential? Hunters have used smooth bores with slugs for years. And I am sure with great success. Also, with a choke, a rifled slug might help some.

My main question is if for starting out, I would be ok without a rifled barrel (that costs like $150+). With a scope and a nice slug, I should still be good for 75yrds+ with some practice, 75yrds or more is doable. Just looking for some real insight as to IF I "have to" get a rather expensive rifled barrel to start out.

I want to buy a Nagant at Big 5. Right now they have the /30's on sale for 85. Next week, that will stop and the 44's will go on sale. I was more interested in the 44 but I'm really looking more for collecting purposes and to maybe shoot once and a while.

Is there any big difference in the two of these for collecting? I like the fold-out bayonet on the 44 but the sales guy said the 30 is more accurate.

Suggestions?
