I'm looking to purchase a rifle so that I can hunt whitetail with my fiance on his 160-acre farm in Kansas. I'd like to find one with a nice mix of range/accuracy - I already tried out his 7mm-Mag but I'm just not that comfortable with it. If we're out for quite a while (he's got a block permit since he has crops on his land), I usually feel like someone has taken a sledgehammer to my shoulder :)

What do you all suggest?

My brother and I are going hunting tomorrow (hopefully). He borrowed a gun off of our dad. Its a winchester model 1400, 12 gauge. The thing is, here in ohio you have to shoot deer with slugs, not regular shot. He does not have the slug barrel neither does my dad (the original owner of the gun). Could he safely shoot a slug (to be exact, the winchester XP3 2 and 3/4" shell)?

Animals are getting killed because of that time of year where hunters can hunt animals for pleasure. I'm no vegitarian but I still think that is wrong.

I am 100% against animal hunting for game.
I mean, I eat meat... but that's because the animals
are already dead + it would just be going to waste.

I don't know what to say... I mean I already told him
that I am against hunting and all. But just knowing
that he shoots deer for fun really sickens me. He
really cares about me.... but just the thought of hunting
game and all makes me gag.

I'm looking for a gun that can shoot at distances up to 700 yards. it also has to be able to be able to handle thick skinned animals such as moose and elk. Can the .308 winchester do this?

My old 870 is jamming a lot, even after repeated cleanings. I'm considering a Mossberg. I want something that is all-around useful, for deer, ducks, and doves

Alright, I had heard its illegal in Michigan unless your disabled. I am not luckily but always wanted to hunt with a crossbow. Then, I went to my local outdoor shop where they sell crossbows and asked him and he said "you can hunt with a crossbow in Michigan legally and without a disability during rifle season" Anyone know which is right? Thanks

I'm looking for a self defense gun but with so many bullet sizes, I need to know which has the best stopping power? And what is the difference between a .45 cal and a .45 GAP?

I am a bow hunter, but it's deer gun season. In Ohio, we can only use muzzleloaders or shotguns. What would you all suggest be a good first gun? Should I just buy a BASIC 12 / 20 gauge with interchangeable barrel or some muzzleloader? I have this deer season, fox, boar, etc. I want something that will get the job done, but nothing overly fancy. Thanks in advance

I am looking to buy a shoulder holster for someone for Christmas (it's what he wants) and I am not sure how to go about it. It is a Ruger 22, and I know I have to take into account the size of the barrel. But does that include the entire length of the gun or just the barrel that extends off the front? It looks like the part that extends is about 3", but the entire length is about 6". Any suggestions as to what kind to get? I do not know a lot about guns..Help :o)

I am looking at buying my first bow. Looking at a Parker BuckHunter XP. Just wondering if anybody knew anything about this bow or any other suggestions.

Also I am looking for a climbing stand. My current stand just doesn't have enough room for bowhunting. It's either the Summit Viper or 180. Any input is aprecciated.

Any other tips or overlooked equipment for a first-time bowhunter is welcome.

I want to get my husband a meat grinder for Christmas. He is a big deer hunter, with a big deer hunting family. He would like to have a grinder so he can process the family's meat. I have no idea what to get!! I have seen a few in Bass Pro shop, but I've never been satisfied with their "cooking" products. What is a good brand for meat grinders? Any online stores would be great.

ok we all know that the 30/30 winchester is 1 of the great whitetail deer calibers. but is it moving fast enough and with enough energy 2 kill a black bear effictively? and has anyone heard about the new hornady LEVERREVOLUTION ammo? it adds about 300 more fps's and now a 30/30 is a 300 yard gun.
i have shot my grandfathers 30/30 many times and the recoil doesnt bother me its pretty light
your thoughts
