You need to check out LEM Products on the Internet at lemproducts.com. They have a complete line of Grinders,Sausage Makers,Spices,Jerky Making Equipment,Dryers, etc.literally everything you can think of for processing Venison. They have probably the best selection of accessories I've ever seen for processing venison, Jerky, Deer Bologna,Sausage..etc. I stop shopping for everything you will need..literally.....
I process a lot of venison myself and I have two of their Grinder's that work better and faster than any other grinder's I've owned in the past. The Grinders are in all price ranges depending on what size motor you want and how much venison you will need to process. Their own line of wild game spices are excellent too...You can order on-line or get a free catalog mailed to you. They even have "How To" video's that show you step by step how to process your venison and other wild game..Pretty Cool I think........

I want to get my husband a meat grinder for Christmas. He is a big deer hunter, with a big deer hunting family. He would like to have a grinder so he can process the family's meat. I have no idea what to get!! I have seen a few in Bass Pro shop, but I've never been satisfied with their...

I agree with the second answer, anything is better than using a hand-turned grinder. BUT, for the first 3 years of marraige, my husband and I used an electric meat grinder that was an attachment on my oster home center (food processing system) and it was nice. MY brother in law bought a little electric meat grinder and it worked, too. The problem with both of these is that 1) the blade dulls easily and 2) the discs get clogged up very easily and are REALLY irritating to stop and clean. So, if your husband AND the family are big-time deer hunters, I recommend doing what I did:
I do not want to make suppositions about your financial status, so please don't be offended....
If you can afford it on your own, get your husband a band saw with an attached meat grinder. That way, not only can you grind your own burger, it is easier to cut you own steaks, roast, etc.
If you can not afford it on your own, ask the wives, girlfriends to all pitch in together and ya'll get one. Most times, there is one location where the deer are cleaned and or cut up. In our family, most times the deer are cleaned at my brother in laws, but the meat is cut up at our house. The saw can go in whichever place this is done most often (even if it's at the family's hunting camp). They are not cheap. But the are ABSOLUTELY worth the expense.
It used to take us a whole afternoon to grind up one good sized batch of burger, but with the big one, we took care of three whole deer in about an hour and a half.
Good luck!!!

How about a KitchenAid mixer with the grinder attachment? It's a real work-horse, and I've been really happy with it. I grind pork butt for sausages and haven't had any problems with it. It's also great for grinding up chicken to use in place of ground beef since it's healthier. Plus, there are a ton more uses for the mixer besides deer meat. Double plus good!

They are all pretty decent. Anything is better than the old #10 hand cranker. Just don't buy it at Wal-Mart.
