There is no such thing as a concealed weapon permit for carrying a knife in ANY state, including Pennsylvania. Concealed Weapons Permits are issued solely for carrying a handgun concealed. As far as the carrying of a knife in public, even a large hunting knife, there is no logical reason for anyone to be carrying such a knife on the public streets. You should call your local Police Dept or Sheriff's Dept to see what is legal in your area. I would highly recommend you don't attempt this. Legal or not you will draw a lot of attention from the local Police if you are carrying one as you described.

First off, the idea of a concealed weapon permit is so you can protect yourself. Of all the "arms" covered under the Second Amendment (rifle, handgun, sword, knife, bayonet) we consider today the handgun as the best of the lot. So when you get a concealed weapon permit it is for a concealed handgun, nothing else. Second, the concealed weapon laws come under firearms. Knives are usually covered under a different area of the law. And most states limit your knife to a small blade, sometimes less than 2 or 3 inches long. So the usual SEAL or SEA HUNT type knife would be too long and not permitted to carry even if you did have a concealed weapon permit. When you go scuba diving you put on your gear. Wetsuit, mask, weight belt, tanks, flippers and you can put on your knife at that time. It is clear that it is part of your equipment. But when you hit the surface and go to walk to your car you take off the diving stuff. You might get cut a little slack if you are carrying the stuff to your car by wearing it but when you take off the tanks and related gear you had better take off the knife. Do not think that since you got a wet suit on you can wear the knife on a belt as a routine. And definitely do not think, having a diving certificate allows you to wear the knife for anything. All that certificate says is you can dive. You do not want to get in trouble with the law in regards to that knife. Getting a conviction for carrying a weapon, concealed or not, when you are not suppose to be without any valid excuse is a good way to screw up your life.

RE:
Do you need a concealed weapons license to carry a knife in Pennsylvania?
Not just a pocket knife, but a large hunting-style knife. Also, I'm talking about carrying it on the street, not while hunting.
I'm not a psychopath; I'm just wondering.

I'm amazed that a retired police officer from...who knows where, makes such a blanket statement. Absolutely false! Wrong! Irresponsible! It's even more irresponsible that this misinformation was deemed "Best Answer".
I can't speak for any other state than Florida but I can assure you that our permit covers firearms, electric weapons, tear gas guns, billies and, yes, knives! If it's more than a 4" single blade concealed then it's best to carry a permit. Let this be a lesson to all. Nobody knows 100% of the law...even police officers. ALL police officers. I know not to argue with a LEO but I also know to have a lawyer on call if you're legally involved in this manner.

No. For starters, its not concealed. For another, knives, unless they are used as a weapon or carried in order to be used as a weapon are legally in most cases just tools, not weapons. A scuba knife carried by a diver clearly falls under the "tool" category.

I think its Absolutely BS that you can carry a pistol concealed with a crap load of certifications but you cant carry a 4.5 inch knife in a sheath on your belt...You know whats funny? i checked with my local police department and i can carry my Hatchet on my waste because a hatchet is not in the laws...But i cant carry a knife???? WTF? These laws are just stupid. whoever made our consitution into what it is today needs to be kicked in the teeth because when this country was founded it was pretty cut and dry and simple and THEY DIDNT MAKE LAWS AS THEY WENT!!! Like a kid that is in charge of a game and doesnt like how the game is going so he changed the rules to better suit him/her self....
You dont like what i said then go blow a donkey cocckk.... Im a former Marine and i come back home and cant carry a knife? WTF!!! And thats another thing..You have all these retards in office or people making the rules who havnt even served in the military...They shouldnt have the right to be dictators. And thats exactly what this country turned into A police ran/ corporate ran country with a weak *** leader and corrupted Govt.
