I ****** my gun (.45) with a clip loaded with bullets. I have never shot this gun before (inherited).
I am 99% sure it is not loaded...but now I need to pull the trigger (without the clip in it) and have it NOT fire a bullet. (In crowded city).
I looked down the barrel, in the side, up the clip area, etc. I see NO bullet and have 7 in the clip and it won't fit another bullet. The other clips only fit 7 too that are the same.
I have another clip that fits 8 but it is a different metal polish/length.

Is it safe to disarm this gun...meaning, NO bullets will fire?
I am paranoid that if I do accidentally shoot a round off into the air the whole freakin' city will hear it.
Have I checked everything? (Gun safety tells me yes...) But that was with other handguns/rifles. Not a .45 :-)

So in MD every handgun sold needs to be fired to have a "ballistic fingerprin" that goes to the feds. couldnt you change this by switching out the barrel, and if needed to change the indentation on the case, a new firing pin.

No I am not planning on killing anyonel, but I think its more of a privacy issue for me.

Ruger M77 Compact rifle in .243 Winchester. Also the same rifle in .308 caliber. This will be used for occasionally hunting deer but mostly for target shooting at the range.

What would do more damage to you if you got shot, a paint ball gun or a bee bee gun? My brother says paint ball and I say bee bee. Who is right, me or my brother? One of us gets 5 bucks.

My cousin is planning a Mountain Lion Hunting trip. He has a guy with a pack of dogs trained for hunting lions, taking him. He's not sure what caliber gun he needs for the hunt. The guns he has are....

Remington and Marlin 22lr (We both agree that these guns would never do on a trip like this.)
Smith & Wesson .40 semi-auto handgun. (He's thinking of taking this gun only as a back up.)
Ruger Hawkeye .204 bolt action rifle with a Leupold scope.
Remington 710 .300 Win. Mag. with 3-9x40 Bushnell scope.
Benelli Nova 12 gauge pump shotgun.

Which one of these guns would do for his trip? Or does he need another caliber gun for the hunt?

I recently went shooting with my dad, and he let me fire his .357. Is a .357 always a magnum, or is it two different guns? I also fired .38 ammo out of it, which made it more of a chick gun. I actually like the reg ammo as opposed to the smaller ones. I made a comment about a .357 being a total "chick gun," and the response to that made me think that the gun I shot wasn't an actual magnum. Help?

She is concerned about to much recoil. I have been told that a 25'06 would be a good caliber as far as recoil is concerned. My only concern is that she will have to make a perfect shot every time in order to have a clean kill. I'm thinking a 270, but would that be to much recoil?

I just bought a modle 710 in .300 win at wal-mart on sale for $250 and had nothing but problems with the pos, first when I put the rifle together I noticed a spot on the bolt that had not been blued I tried to take it back to the store but they said that I would have to call rem I did and they sent me a new bolt handle assembly instead of just sending a whole new bolt assembly well I just thought no big deal just brake the bolt down like I was going to clean it and then reassemble using the new part well guess what the end cap on the firing pin ***. is made of plastic and broke.I have owned a few Remingtons and Im shcoked on how poor this rifle is made. well again wal-mart said that they would not take it back can Iget rem to buy it back or mabe upgrade me to a 770.I thought when I bought a REMINGTON the name would say it all and that I had just found one hell of a deal boy was I wrong!Hell I have not even fired the thing yet and it is already out of service D.O.A I guess.

I don't know much about guns, but I want to buy a shotgun as my first gun. I'll probably keep it forever and use it a lot before buying anything else. I was told by a shop keeper to get a 20 gauge but my uncle told me to get a 12 gauge. Whats the difference between the gauges? I want to use it to shoot birds when hunting (duck, geese, whatever else i can hunt here in Texas) and also for shoot practice shots at the range (clay flyers). What would you suggest as a good gauge and gun for me to buy? I'm willing to spend at most 500 but who knows, I'm new to this and don't know how much i should be spending for a good gun. Oh and i think i want a semi-auto gun not a pump action, but i'm still not sure. please help.
