Okay, I've been a high-power hunter most of my life, but I've decided to try shotgun season this year. I bought a 20 gauge with rifled barrel (so my kid can use it too) and I have a few dumb questions:

Can you use slugs in a rifled barrel? If so, are they as accurate as the $15 a box sabot rounds? $3 vs. $15 is a big difference when you're sighting in for 100 yards.

IF I use sabot rounds, how many shots would I have in the field before worrying about the plastic buildup altering the point of impact?

These $15 sabot rounds have a helluva punch, 1800fps and zero drop at 150 yards. (According to the box) Do slugs have that much snot to 'em? I would assume not, but I won't be shooting more than a hundred yards probably.

Thanks for the answers.

I know that it's difficult.
I like guns.
I like meat.
I don't care about the ethics of whether the animal suffers or not. We are after all, killing it, so let's not nitpick.
As a hunter and gamesman, shouldn't we use our natural strengths and skills just as the animal is using it's own natural abilities.
I think using a bow accomplishes that. Use a bow you coward chicken **** rifle hunters.

I'm the classic "good girl" who doesn't drink, get into fights, etc. I'm dating/living with a Marine and he owns one rifle and two hand guns that he keeps locked in a room in our basement. He took me shooting at a range (my first time ever), and we had a good time. I had a few pictures taken throughout the day, and to cap off the day, we went home and he showed me how to rack the rifle, etc. (we dont have any ammo for it in the house) Again, a few fun pictures.
Naturally, I posted some of them on my blog and myspace. I then got tons of flack from my friends saying how terrible guns are and how terrible its going to make people think about me. Seeing as how both the blog and myspace are friend-only, I believe they are mistaken. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not going to go on a shooting rampage from a day with guns. I think they are just using their own opinions about the morals of firearms to judge my recreation.

Are the pictures appropriate or should I take them down?

After all, all that gun stuff is very phallic. Is Republican Senator Larry Craig is a good role model? He loves guns, he loves Jesus, he hates the Constitution, and loves men. That's what made this country great?

he hunts alot, he always been hunting for a long time, i really dont like people that hunt, because they kill the animals, and thats cruel, and seeing the hunters bringing the dead animal and everything, for me its so sad and cruel how people do this, but thats what they want, my uncle, went with his son, to hunt, and they go to hunt 10:00 at night, and his son always comes back first, at like 12:00 they bring alot of dead animals, and one day, my uncle didnt come back, so we went looking for him, we say him laying on the ground, we took him to the hospital, there we saw that one part of his tongue, wasm issing, when he woke up, he told us, that he saw a old woman, with no eyes, and no skin, just bones, and there was a fire on her, then something happen that he cant remenber, and he said that this old woman, told him to never go hunt, then he doesnt remenber, how did hes tongue came out, and also, do you think this is true, how? and why. he said hi thinks that woman is a demon?

Far from my village there are a clutch of fields that have no farmhouse nearby and are serviced only by a narrow trackway that I never see another soul on, but the fields are always worked.

So where can I go to meet whoever owns the land, to see if he'll grant me permission for a bit of rough shooting?

Thanks

I have a 50 Cal. Muzzle-loader rifle with two barrels which rotate 180 degrees, but cannot find any information about it. It is a beautiful gun with brass butt-plate and patch plate/box in the burl walnut stock. It has two 50 Cal barrels, one on top of the other but it's not an over/under as each barrel has it's own ram-rod, front/rear sight and cap nipple. Once one barrel is fired, I can bring the hammer back, grab the barrels and rotate them 180 degrees until the 2nd barrel is now on top and fire that barrel. The only marking on it is "Warranted". Can anyone please help me? Many thanks in advance.
