Ok, so I got my rem 870 mag extension off (it's the hd version with 18in barrel and mag extension) but the barrel won't come off. Any help? I've sprayed it with WD40 and still nothing,, help?

while i don't own a Remington 870(i have a Mossberg 500c) i also have the same problem with my mossy.like the other guy said i have to push the slide release(the small button in front of the trigger guard and not the safety as that is on the top back of the receiver.) once i get half way through the cycling the slide the barrel comes right out.

Open the action by pressing the slide release button, then pull the pump rearward all the way opening it completely. Take a plastic headed hammer or a rubber mallet and tap both sides of the barrel close to the barrel retainer ring. It should make the barrel come loose without any damage or difficulty....

Make sure it is empty and action is OPEN so the bolt face is not pressing against the rear of the barrel assembly. If the action is closed you aren't going to get the barrel out. You have one of the best shotguns ever made on the face of the earth.

Press the slide release button and move the forearm back towards the receiver about half way. this should release the tension on the barrel.

That is strange mine come on and off very easy....
Did you try to remove it with the action open?

take it to a gunsmith before you do any damage
