Hey guys, I got a 10/22 rifle last September, haven't had a chance to shoot it. Would it be okay to go out and shoot it or should I get it checked out, cleaned, or anything else. Also I got some bullets at the same time, would it be a good idea to throw them out and get new ones?

I am 21 years old, 5'0, 100 pounds. I've never been a big fan of guns but my boyfriend and I are talking about getting a house and we both agreed that I'd need to buy my own gun that I was comfortable shooting for my own self defense if that time ever came. I can look at pictures of guns all day long but I don't fully understand them. What are differences in all these guns? The Kel-Tec P3AT .380 caught my eye. When I looked up S&W J-Frame snub nose .38, I just got confused with what I really need. My research so far has gotten me almost convinced I need a .38 or a .22. Any good choices/recommendations? After I get an idea, I'll go to my local gun shop and shoot different guns to see what's right for me. I need something that I'll be confident shooting, and something that will do enought damage to my enemy long enough for me to get away. Any advice will help me! Thanks!

I am in the market to buy my first shot gun in the next month or so. I want to be able to hunt any bird(turkey and duck mostly). I think i want to go for a semi-auto but am not 100% sure. I was at Bass Pro and like a Browning that they have that is a semi (not sure of the model but it was $749.99). I also liked the Remington 11-87.
I know i will be paying a premium for the name but is it worth it? Also, i like the look of a wood stock but i also like the camo. What are the pros and cons of them both? Also, are there any disadvantages to a semi besides harder to clean and might not cycle smaller shells?
I do not want to buy an 870 because i feel that i might later want to move up to a semi. I want to be able to keep this gun for years and years.
Lastly, i am open to any suggestions on OTHER shotguns besides the ones that i listed.

Remington 700 SPS or Browning A bolt Hunter. Remington is $100 or so cheaper than Browning. Sorry for all these dumb questions, first buy and I dont want to make a mistake. Thanks.

Ive been fishing saltwater for many years now mostly on party boats and for fluke in the bay however I never really fished the surf. I am constantly hearing about everybody tearing up the blues catching 30 in an hour or catching 20 schoolie striped bass. I am all about action i dont care if they are huge or mostly shorts, I just like catching fish.

However, I find this type of fishing very confusing like what beach to fish? What time of day and tides does it have to be to catch fish; does it matter? And finally the most important what part of the beach do you cast into and how do u locate the fish,( is it just a matter of driving around looking for birds?). Please help! I think its only fair I get my share of the blues and stripers too.

Typically when I think of a self-defense or man-stopping round, I think of a wide diameter round, like a .45 for example. Everyone bashes the .22 long rifle as being an inadequate self defense round, yet the .223 rifle round is nearly the same diameter, and is widely used in the M4 by the military and other civilian rifles falsely labeled as "assault weapons". What makes the .223 / 5.56 round so effective? Is it the higher velocity and pressure?

In North America, how do you search for a snake near a lake or river area? Or how to leer them out? Any good suggestion?

i bought a brand new 9mm semi auto last month, and i keep a loaded magazine in my house at all times. ive loaded it with two types of ammo: Winchester hollow point and Speer Lawman Full Metal Jacket. both types of ammo went from bright, super-shiny copper to dull, tarnished doo-doo color in just one day of being inside the magazine. the rest of the ammos in both boxes are all shiny and the same as new.

why does this happen???

I own a Sig SP2340, and unfortunately I only get a chance to shoot it maybe once a year. I might put 100 rounds through it when I do go shoot.

The sun is hot and meat spoils. How is a deer preserved until returning from a hunt? If a deer is killed one day, does part of the dressing out take place the next day? (What is dressing a deer?)

When fishing do you prefer sitting back with a live bait and letting the fish come to you or up and around chasing the fish with a lure? Im not talking about when you target certain fish or things of that sort, i just mean if you had one way to fish which would it be? ( for me i would have to say sittin back with a live bait in the water taking in what nature has to offer waitin for the fish to come to me)

I've been told by some that if I care about my Gun Rights (which as an aspiring collector, I do very much) I should join the NRA. Others tell me that the NRA will basically do nothing but send me junk mail asking for money all the time. What do you think I should do? What are the Pros and Cons of joining the NRA?

At my local gun club they have a station where you can clean your gun (shotgun usually) and the stuff they give you to out down the barrel (on a wire brush) and on the cleaning patch is WD-40. But then my Dad told me WD-40 is bad for a barrel when I asked him if I should clean my shotgun there after my NRA shotgun class. So if its bad for a barrel why would my local gun club have it there? And what does WD-40 do to a barrel?

It doesn't have to be real rocks (Altho that would be awesome! If u know any, please list!). But those walls with those colored rocks attached to it? Any places where u can just climb and it's cheap? I love to rock-climb, but the only time I seem to actually get to rock-climb is when I go to amusement parks and theirs are always easy.
