In addition to being a hunter and fisherman, I happen to be a social worker with DSS. We just happen to have this neat littlle program called food stamps, so there is no need to break the laws and poach. I was dirt poor in college and managed to obey all the laws....if I didnt catch or shoot my dinners on the weekends,I would have to settle for ramen noodles..they are real cheap and you dont illegally kill stuff. There is no excuse for poaching. Maybe we should do what many 3rd world countries do to poachers....shoot them.

Poachers won;t stop and the reason is simple. GREED

In Georgia, there is a Man that hunts Deer at night spolighting them. The Deers won;t move once that light hits them in the eyes. They shoot them dead on the spot. Hunting made easy. If they are caught by DNR Officials, the fine is unbelievable.

Just to give you an example of one fine a guy got Poaching was $5,000.00 For one Deer.

We cannot stop poachers, but what we can do is help out by reporting anything suspicous that mae be poachers.

There's a guy in Harris County here in Gerogia that will get you a Deer for $25.00 and thats alot of meat.
He's a poacher, but the problem is that he has 300 acres of his own property and that makes it difficult for DNR to arrests him..

He has been reported, but they can do nothing about it unless someone testifies and that hasn't happened yet.

Criminals Poach. Why? Becuase they have other criminals that give them gratification. Some poach for money (Pelts, Tusks, etc Others for the simple fact of getting away with it. If you know a poacher, report them to you local Fish and Wildlife agency. Do not Support anyone with this sick mentality. Sooner or later, true outdoorsmen will prevail. Unfortunatly Poachers and Poaching will never stop.

Hunting and poaching are two different animals. (And no, I don't consider putting food on the table quite poaching if it's a necessity, as for just going and signing up and getting that, explain how easily that's supposed to work to the state of Florida, because I've got a friend who has no job, her husband has a crappy job that doesn't even pay all the bills, and the state keeps telling her that she "makes too much money" to get food stamps... anyway...)

Best scenario, you have your hunting/fishing license, you follow all the rules, you kill what you'll eat, and eat what you kill. This is not poaching.

You have your license and you kill just to kill or just for the trophies and don't eat a bite of it, or take fish or game out of season, or oversized or undersized, you're a jerk.

You don't have your licenses, you've got an empty kitchen, you break down and get a few meals for your family? This is doing what you have to do, please do the karmicly (is that a word?) correct thing when things turn around for you and purchase your licenses even if you don't use them for as long as you were going behind the law's back.

No license and killing stuff for trophy/profit/just to see blood flow? Someone needs to do the same to you.

Anyway, just my philosophies.....

Well said Fishhunt.

We as Hunters are ethical people that love nature and animals , we enjoy the sport and It has a special meaning . I along with other hunters dont like poachers they dont have a respect for the laws of man or more importantly the laws of nature.

When someone hunts without a licence for example that takes away from other hunters and this is why. Hunters are the biggest contributors to wildlife land and wildlife management. This is done by the billions spent on the purchases of hunting licences and equiptment ,and also tracts of land preserved and reclaimed for hunting

Despite what these people have said, some people poach because that's how they feed their family, believe it or not here in America there are still poor people who cant afford to go the grocery store and buy food and still make ends meet,it may be hard to fathom but its done every day,i don't have a problem with some one shooting a deer or a hog or whatever out of season so he can feed his kids, because I HAVE DONE IT.It was a time ago and things are better but i would do it again in a heartbeat if it meant my family wouldn't go hungry,I don't give a rats azz if you agree or disagree with this statement but that's the way it is sometimes,Now if you want to poach for just the skin or antlers then come to NY and try that sh*t in my neck of the woods, someone will end up pissing on your bones years from now

No answer for that, but wish ta' H _ _ L I had!!! I can tell ya' one thing both, Brandon and fishunt hit the nail right on the head, with a blindfold on :) : )

Hey "Drop", my sole disturbance when it comes to poachers are ones that take advantage of what we all have, ya' know leavin' the lake with 50 fish and the limit is only ten!! I was not referring to less fortunate people such as yourself nor that of others in a situation that you ONCE had!! So please back off with your survival issue!! I have been and seen more **** then you'll see in three lifetimes. Hunters and fisherman (sometimes)=poachers=criminals!! To reiterate I was not referring to the less fortunate!! By the way the only reason for me adding this is because of you and your ***'a'nine conceptoin and misunderstanding of what the hell I believe all of the above were talkin about!! Good day...

Hunters do not poach. Hunters buy licenses and hunt within the state laws. Your question is insulting to folks who legally hunt.

My opinion is that it is a terrible difficulty to kill and/or mutilate and flow away to die, any animal in basic terms for it is spleen, or tongue,or liver, or horns, or perhaps if else could be primary, as a meant therapeutic agent. the eastern and chinese language are nonetheless utilising animal areas. maximum folk comprehend the excuses why, it is the regulation of furnish and insist. The hunters are in poverty, the call for is severe. Who makes the vast dollars? the fence. all of us comprehend it's going to be stopped, yet there purely isn't the money to hire patrols to shelter each and all the animals. top now i'm heartsick because of the fact our President could get his choose in invading the birthing places and feeding grounds of the few remaining wild animals we've interior the Arctic. Why? to drill for oil which will fee greater to get it out of the floor than it is nicely worth. And while they get it, if it is there, it would final the U.S. gasoline- hungry inhabitants in basic terms a pair of months, yet then the flowers and fauna would be ineffective.
