I last rode a bike 8 years ago, and would like to start riding to school again. (About 30 miles a week) If it's relevant at all, I'm 15 and weigh 110-115 pounds. Suggestions for brands, types, or models are appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know anything about bikes, but I've got and old scwinn cruiser with bad brakes. The problem is that when they squeeze shut the side that the brake cable doesn't goto stays against the wheel rim. It's that same for front and back and I can't figure out how to get them to pull back after i stop squeezing the brake.

Most cyclists (aka Lance Armstrong wanna be's) think they are "eite" and will not aknowledge that they are about to pass you, my guess is that they think they own the path, thus, they can be rude and not aknowledge your presence.

Hi, I have a hybrid bike (it looks like a mountain bike, but has narrow tires).

The bicycle cannot support my weight (I'm 180 lbs). In fact, that's the reason the past owner sold it (But then again, he was over 220lbs...).

When I sit on it, the back tire just compress alot. This forces me to put more effort while pedaling; I feel I go slow 'cause of that.

I would like to know if I can swap them with wider tires. Also, will it actually solve my problem?

Thanks.

I've read studies that long cycling can decrease blood flow to both men and womens genital areas.

They say that even gel seats aren't good for long biking.

I love cycling but I don't want to put myself at risk

are their any seats that are known to be good for your goods?

that wouldn't lead to or raise the risk of damage????

thanks

I have not used this bicycle for a number of years. I just moved and decided to ride again. I can see the chain move, but when I try to ride, the pedals just spin and I get nowhere.
Help.

i've had problems with cramps in my lower back during races in the past. i have attributed this pain to my lack of proper stretching, since i am in good health.

i know some basic stretches that help me during a regular ride, but what will prevent that pain in my lower back during a race?

I want to buy a bike but I'm not sure what kind to get. I would like to get one that's good for city riding but also the occasional camping/bike trail ride. Anyone have any ideas?

My 5 yo received a bike as a gift but can't use the hand brakes and refuses to ride it.

I have been thinking about converting it to foot brakes. It would need to be able to be done for a reasonable price.

Front gear changing mechanism failure. Tried to fix it the other day, it just wouldnt go on all 3 gears without the chain scrapping against the derailer. Any ideas how I should go about fixing it? or suggestions where I could find information on how to fix it? Dont really want to take it to a shop unless absolutely necessary, still want to establish that intimate relation with me bike. My current mtbing partner is going on his honeymoon soon, looking for new ones around the area. I am a novice in mtbing, though have been riding since 10. Female, not super fit, can ride about 15 miles in about 2 hrs and half. Wish to improve on speed and skills. Anyone would be interested in training together? I am fairly good at rock climbing, so even if you are really good at mtbing, perhaps you would be interested in someone showing you the sports of climbing in exchange for some tips in mtbing?

I own a Giant Revive Bicycle and the standard wired computer cannot be mounted on this bike. Most wireless I've seen need a max of 18" to transmit accurately. The distance between the tire and the handle bar on my bike is 32". Any suggestions on what I can use??

Is it better to update your complete component set (ie, 105 to Ultegra) or can you upgrade components strategically?

If you can upgrade strategically, what is the best piece to begin with? Rear and front derailleur? Shifters?

Thanks in advance.

I'm 22 years old, and would mostly be using my bike for commuting around the city. However, I would also like to do some off-roading, nothing crazy, but definitely going over some rocks and roots and what-not. I was thinking of getting a hybrid, but I'm concerned that it won't handle the mountain biking I want to do. But, my priority is comfort for riding long distances in the city (I'll usually be wearing a heavy backpack too). Thanks for the advice!

I am not exactly a beginner, but I haven't ridden in a few years. I have done a couple of somewhat advanced trails several years ago. I want something that I can do pretty moderate to hard trails but also do easier bike path riding too. I'd like something that will last a decent amount of years. I am hoping to only spend no more than about $300 or so. I have been looking at Diamondback and Mongoose, although I recently have heard a lot of recommendations to Giant bikes. Advice?
