For my Fisher Piranha. I ride XC(cross country mountain biking, for those who don't know) in most conditions. Loose, hardpack, gravel, sometimes sand, not usually mud though. Any ideas would be great
Thanks

Summer is here so i need to get a bike for myself. Im thinking about a trial - jump kind of bike (also used for 4 miles commuting to work). My budget is max 400 pounds. Im 6ft tall, so I need 26" wheels , but i dont know what frame size.
The most important thing for me is the weight of the bike ( it has to be as light as possible) .I found couple of bikes :
- Saracen flea 2 : http://www.drakescycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b0s3p263

-GT Chucker 2 : http://www.drakescycles.co.uk/products.php?show=124

- Diamondback assault : http://www.drakescycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b0s3p130

If anyone is able to help me to chose one of them (or suggest other one in that price range ) i would be really greateful

Schwinn bicycles used to be only available in a Schwinn authorized dealer bike shop. Now they are available in Walmart, Target, etc.

I suspect these "box-store" Schwinns are knockoffs, meaning the Schwinn company bids them out to be produced by another manufacturer, who will make them for the cheapest price, and they slap the Scwhinn label on it.

Something else that supports this theory is that the "box-store" Schwinns do not seem to appear on the official Schwinn website catalog.

Are box-store Schwinns knockoffs?

If money was no object what road bike would you build or buy? List frame and groupo at minimum.

I live about 3 miles from campus, so I will ride my bike to school every day. I need a little bit faster bike, and with good brakes, previous 2 I have bought broke in less than a month; brakes just stopped working. And I need very good lock, because people are stealing bikes a lot! Which one should I buy, and where I should put it. Willing to pay $350 at most for the bike. Thanks!

Will it negatively impact the rims/wheels if I hang my bike on a ceiling hook from the rear or front wheel?

If so, what's the best way to store bicycles with an eye for making most of the space?

Thanks.

Well, i finally got a BMX bike for my birthday, if you check, you'll notice i asked a question about where should i buy one.

Well, i noticed, BMX bikes generally have a small frame, for tricks, the same size as an old youth-sized bike my brother got from this Church give-away, maybe you might have heard of it, Angelus temple.

Anyways, the point is, can't i just convert that youth bike into a BMX bike? it is VERRY basic, just a frame, two wheels, a steering..thing, and the chain, pretty much

I was thinking of returning the BMX bike, i only got it yesterday, buyin a nice mountain bike, and i was thinking all i need to do is give that old bike a clean up, put some pegs on it, and done!

is it a good idea?

thing is, im not thinking of going big on BMXing, at least not if i dont keep the real BMX bike

not sure if this qualifies for a cycling question but no other board seemed to help so here goes..i've been doing spinning for about 2 months now and have advanced to the point where i can do the stand and pedal and the climb...now i've developed a huge lump on the back of my left leg, figuring an Achilles tendon inflammation and an wondering if this could be from the standing part of the ride since i am new to the stand and climb part..i do have a minor issue with my left knee and that has started hurting a bit so i'm not sure if i've been compensating for the knee by subconsciously positioning my left foot a bit different on the pedals and that has caused this Achilles tendon to flare up...i'm thinking maybe since just the one is inflamed...thanks in advance for any info

I have a Giant Boulder SE 26inch mountain bike that I currently use ocassionally, however I would like to start using it on my 5 mile commute to college. Is it possible to make this bike more road friendly by changing it into a hybrid bike and if so how would I go about doing that?
