THey currentlly have a set of Manitou Comp shocks but they've lost their bounce and are heavy anyway. Do I need a specific size fork or something?

Yep.

The Manitou Comp are a good fork (Have the 80 mm on my wifes bike). If you tried to put a longer travel fork, like a 135 mm, onto your bike, it would ruine the set up.

For the Manitou, I would look at replacing with 80 - 100 mm. Anything else would ruine your riding.

Try these web sites:

You can get some nice, lighter forks for about £150 (Try Mazzoci, or Fox). You can throw a lot of money at forks. E.G. Fox R35, with handlebar lock out are about £650. Mazzoci Bombers about the same.

Luck
