If you refer to the bike seat that grabs to your seatpost, I wouldn't put a baby at any size in there. Maybe you're a smooth rider, but if for any reason you fall, your baby won't be able to bail out, and his/her head is the tallest point in the bike. Just too dangerous, stay away from them.

The rule of thumb that bike shops go by is that a child shoiuld be able to hold their head up when seated to be placed in a child seat. Otherwise, the jarring motion could hurt their neck. They can generally ride in the seats until they weight 40 pounds.

Follow the manufactures recommendations as it can vary. It's generally something like 18 months – when the child can start holding their head up.

Probably at least 2 years old. There may be laws in your area regarding minimum age requirements.
