I have not used this bicycle for a number of years. I just moved and decided to ride again. I can see the chain move, but when I try to ride, the pedals just spin and I get nowhere.
Help.

This could be caused by one of two things. First, the chain may not be on a gear. Make sure that the chain is firmly on the front chainring and rear cogs when you pedal. Second, you could have a broken freehub which would cause the rear wheel not to engage. In either case, I'd go to bike shop and have the bike checked out. Have them look at the drivetrain and brakes, just to make sure that you have a bike that is in proper working order.

It sounds like your gears are not engaging. You might need to adjust the gear cable tension. It's really hard to say, because I can't see exactly what you mean. You might want to take the bike to a shop if you can't figure it out.

freewheel in the rear is gone
take it to your local bike shop for a tune up
be prepared for a new rear hub
