clearly pasta is a big favorite. Don't forget with distances that long, you are going to need big time calories while you ride. The Pre race/ride meal is easy to figure out, I always struggle with figuring out how to consume 400- 500 calories per hour on the bike. I did an MS 150 ride last weekend and while the ride was fully supported I like to know exactly where my calories are coming from. Day one looked something like this: 2 PB&J's @ 700 calories total
4 E-Gels @ 150 calories each 600 total
8 Fig Newtens @(approx) 30ea or 240 total
1 pkg Shot Blocks @ 200 Cal
2 E-Fuel @ 440 cal
BTW this was with out a doubt the most orginized event I have ever been a part of. I recommend everyone support such a good cause. You will not be dissapointed. Sorry off topic a bit. Hope this helps Good luck, Ride safe

NHRH I take a a hundred mile race somewhat severe. this is not any longer a humorous tale. I oftentimes carbo up the nighttime earlier with a pasta dinner. The morning of oatmeal,. juice, clean fruit and low. i'm going to take a severe means drink, and GU gels (in my jersey pocket). I take money to end alongside the way. For on the motorbike, I take a banana, and the two sturdy n plenty... or my well-known, Bit'o'honey... some circumstances a sturdy path mixture. Soccerref EDIT: I even have in no way had plenty success with a sturdy means drink. I even have tried all of those you pronounced. All rather weren't sturdy. i'd hit the community motorbike keep and verify and notice what's new. Soccerref

You want to eat something rich in complex carbohydrates. These are precisely the kind of food that people on Atkins or South Beach Diets rave against. However, they are the food that your body will use first and most easily during strenuous activity. Eat pastas, fruits, granola, etc.

Basically, anything that allows you to load carbohydrates that release your energy slowly. Pasta has always been a favourite with pro teams. On the morning of a ride, I have porridge with honey, it's easy to digest, doesn't make me feel full and once again, gives me a slow, steady release of energy.

one8sway is a 340-lb lardass that lost his last bicycle between his thighs. Needless to say, he's not the foremost authority on ANYTHING bicycle related.

Eat pasta with marinara, pesto or other light sauce. Avoid meats and greasy sauces as they'll just "gum up" your body.

HGH and other steriods seem to be the meals of choice for world class cyclists like Lance Armstrong and Floyd Landis.
